Ernesto Escobedo

Ernesto Escobedo confirmed his retirement from tennis at the end of March 2025 in a post on his Instagram account. Now 28, Escobedo’s professional career lasted for over a decade. He played under the USA flag for most of his career until he switched to Mexico, his country of descent, in January 2023. He was the country’s No. 1 player for a considerable period. Escobedo reached a career-high ranking of No. 67. He never won an ATP title but lifted three on the Challenger level.

2. Richard Gasquet

Richard Gasquet will retire before the end of the 2025 season. Albert Ramos Vinolas

Another Tour veteran retiring in 2025 is Albert Ramos Vinolas. Although he doesn’t have a fixed date for his farewell match or tournament, the Spanish lefty stated that 2025 will be his last season on tour. In a statement on the ATP Tour website, Ramos Vinolas admitted that his heart was still in love with the sport and competition, but his body was no longer capable of operating at its best anymore. He reached a career-high ranking of No. 17 at his peak and won four ATP titles in his career.

Main Photo Credit: Susan Mullane-USA TODAY Sports

With the tennis season almost reaching its halfway point, it is already shaping up to be a year of transition for some of the Tour’s veterans.
