As ever, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for every match, but who will book their spot in the quarterfinals?

ATP Miami Day 7 Predictions

Grigor Dimitrov vs Brandon Nakashima

Head-to-head: Dimtrov 1-1 Nakashima

Grigor Dimitrov had a great resurgence over the last two seasons, but now he’s gotta show it’s not over yet. Injuries have played a big part in his form over the last few months and it’s tough to say whether that’s completely past him or not. What we do know is that he seems to be in better shape in Miami this week. Will that be enough for Brandon Nakashima? Perhaps, but he’ll need to deliver a strong level here and utilize that neutralizing slice as well as he’s been thus far.

Prediction: Dimitrov in 3
Embed from Getty Images

Casper Ruud vs Francisco Cerundolo

Head-to-head: Cerundolo 4-3 Ruud

Francisco Cerundolo has a very strong record against top 10 opposition (13-14) and has been surprisingly consistent of late with at least two matches won in each of his last six events. But Casper Ruud also found something in the last two matches, saving his Sunshine Double with the comeback against Miomir Kecmanovic. He’ll need his serve to be firing again as off the ground the firepower of Cerundolo is so tough to contain. The Norwegian is just a little more reliable, but knows first-hand what a difficult matchup this can be.

Prediction: Ruud in 3

Gael Monfils vs Sebastian Korda

Head-to-head: Monfils 1-0 Korda

Gael Monfils defeated Sebastian Korda in a couple of tie-breaks in Indian Wells and now they get to go again. The thing is the American has struggled with his health over the last six months or so and the lack of match rhythm was tough for him to overcome. But he might be a bit more deadly now that he’s gotten a few reps in, especially a great performance to beat Stefanos Tsitsipas. The Miami conditions could help him just tip the scales in his favor as well.

Prediction: Korda in 2
Embed from Getty Images

Novak Djokovic vs Lorenzo Musetti

Head-to-head: Djokovic 7-1 Musetti

Despite eight previous meetings, it’s only the second time Novak Djokovic and Lorenzo Musetti will go to battle on an outdoor hard court with the majority of their previous matches having taken place on clay and grass where the Italian tends to be at his strongest. But Djokovic has struggled since withdrawing from the Australian Open with injury and his draw so far hasn’t included any real threats. The Italian has certainly challenged him in the past. Djokovic should still have enough to get past Musetti, who is prone to getting rushed in these conditions, but it’s a step up in quality and should be a good measuring stick for the Serbian’s level.

Prediction: Djokovic in 3

Main photo credit: Geoff Burke-Imagn Images

It’s a day jampacked with action at the ATP Miami Open, including all eight men’s singles fourth-round matches on the slate.
