World No.1. Aryna Sabalenka will take on defending champion Danielle Collins in a mouth-watering clash. Former US Open champions, Naomi Osaka and Coco Gauff will also be in action. As always, we at LWOT will offer predictions for every match on the slate. But who will advance to the quarterfinals?

WTA Miami Day 7 Predictions

Qinwen Zheng vs Ashlyn Krueger

Head-to-Head: Zheng 1-0 Krueger

Qinwen Zheng has eased her way into the second week of the Miami Open and will look to reach her first quarterfinal at this event. However, matches will keep getting more challenging from here on and despite the gap in rankings, Ashlyn Krueger is a formidable opponent who has been in scintillating form. Krueger has had to go through a much tougher draw and has stood tall in every match. It’s never easy to back up a great win but the American player did just that and easily defeated Leylah Fernandez. Going by form, Krueger is playing better tennis, but Zheng is a top 10 player for a reason and is starting to find her best level. Both players have big serves, so a close match is expected.
Prediction: Zheng in 3

Naomi Osaka vs Jasmine Paolini

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Naomi Osaka showed great fight and survived another tough day at the office against Hailey Baptiste, who was playing at a high level. Osaka was trailing a break in the third set but kept a solid level and got back into the match. The Japanese superstar has had an up-and-down tournament thus far, but the most important thing is that she is still in the draw. Jasmine Paolini is a great fighter and hustler but she is the kind of player Osaka will enjoy facing. Osaka’s sheer edge on serve and power might be too much for the Italian.
Prediction: Osaka in 2

Embed from Getty Images

Coco Gauff vs Magda Linette

Head-to-Head: Gauff 2-1 Linette

Coco Gauff played a good match against Maria Sakkari in the third round and will make her third fourth-round appearance at the Miami Open. The draw has been ideal for Gauff to build some confidence and form and she has a great chance to make her first quarterfinal here. Magda Linette has not lost a set so far and is playing with a lot of confidence. However, she doesn’t have the outright power to trouble Gauff and will find it difficult to hold serve.
Prediction: Gauff in 2

Aryna Sabalenka vs Danielle Collins

Head-to-Head: Sabalenka 6-0 Collins

Aryna Sabalenka has cruised through her draw, losing just four games in two matches. She will face her first big challenge in the fourth round against Danielle Collins, who has never won against the Belarusian but has fought well in two of their previous three meetings. Collins plays her best tennis at the Miami Open and is on a nine-match win streak here. The American will have to play her best tennis to extend the streak and I expect her to be extra motivated. This should be a great match between two power hitters and my prediction is in the favour of the world No.1.
Prediction: Sabalenka in 3

Main Photo Credit: Mike Frey-Imagn Images

The day 7 lineup at the WTA Miami Open couldn’t have been better, as all four fourth-round matches feature big names.
