Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Magda Linette have had their most recent meeting in Dubai interrupted by the Russian&#8217;s injury. Now they&#8217;ll get to go again in one of the highlights of this opening day schedule. Who do you think will come out on top?<\/p>\n<h2>WTA Miami Day 1 Predictions<\/h2>\n<h4>Viktoriya Tomova vs Caty McNally<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Head-to-head<\/strong>: Tomova 1-0<\/p>\n<p>Caty McNally still hasn&#8217;t played that many matches since her comeback from injury and the win she got in <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/tennis\/2025\/03\/05\/top-players-alcaraz-sabalenka-react-indian-wells-surface\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">Indian Wells<\/a> was rather fortunate with Ajla Tomljanovic&#8217;s retirement. But she did push Liudmila Samsonova in the second round and at just 23 years of age, you&#8217;d expect her to return to her peak sooner than later. Her game fits the conditions in Miami better than Viktoriya Tomova&#8217;s and it&#8217;s her execution on the offense that will decide who takes the win.<br \/>\n<em>Prediction: McNally in 3<\/em><\/p>\n<h4>Renata Zarazua vs Ashlyn Krueger<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Head-to-head<\/strong>: Krueger 1-0<\/p>\n<p>With the Abu Dhabi final and a couple of quarterfinals in Australia, Ashlyn Krueger is heavily implying that this could be a breakthrough year for her. Consistency&#8217;s still a bit spotty, but this should be a nice opportunity to grab her first win in Miami (lost in the first round in three previous editions). They haven&#8217;t been frequent and it all adds up to a 3-8 record this season. Katerina Siniakova should feel pretty confident after grabbing a couple of wins in Indian Wells and of course, it&#8217;s not like she&#8217;s short on match practice with all the winning she&#8217;s doing in doubles as well.<br \/>\n<em>Prediction: Siniakova in 2<\/em><\/p>\n<h4>Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova vs Magda Linette<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Head-to-head<\/strong>: Pavlyuchenkova 3-2<\/p>\n<p>Magda Linette won their most recent meeting in Dubai last month, but that was after Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova was forced to retire up a set. The Russian has only played one match since and skipped Indian Wells, leaving her fitness under a big question mark here. Assuming she&#8217;s fit, can she make it a triumphant return? Perhaps she might as Magda Linette isn&#8217;t in amazing form either.
