Three players, including an ATP Tour veteran, also withdrew from the tournament.

Three Players Withdraw From ATP Chile Open

Which Players Have Withdrawn?

Fabio Fognini was the most high-profile player to withdraw from the ATP Chile Open. The former world No. 9 and 37-year-old has not played a match since retiring during his opening contest of the 2025 season at the Adelaide International. That retirement was due to pain in his left foot. Despite having treatment for the issue, the 2019 Monte Carlo Masters champion is not ready to return yet.

Jaume Munar was another player to withdraw from the ATP Chile Open. The Spaniard competed at the Rio Open, losing in the round of 16 to Jaime Faria. No official reason has been given for his decision not to play in Santiago. He may want additional time to prepare for the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, which is played on hard courts.

Francesco Passaro was the other player to withdraw from the tournament. He has not played since the qualifying stages of the Argentina Open two weeks ago. The Italian qualified for the main draw but could not play because of a physical issue. Passaro is still recovering from that problem.

Embed from Getty Images

Who Replaces Those Players in the Draw?

Camilo Ugo Carabelli, who replaces Fognini, could be among the most dangerous players in the draw at the ATP Chile Open. He had a great tournament at the Rio Open, reaching the semifinal as a qualifier. With the draw in Santiago looking less strong than the one in Rio, Carabelli could make a run for the title if he repeats his form from Brazil.

The experienced Federico Coria is in the draw because Munar felt he had to withdraw. Coria has built his career on solid results at clay court tournaments. However, he has yet to shine during this year’s Golden Swing, and the tournament in Santiago will be his final opportunity.

Yannick Hanfmann is the final player to enter the ATP Chile Open draw. The German’s best results during his career have come on clay, including both of his ATP Finals. Hanfmann possesses formidable groundstrokes, especially with his two-handed backhand, and could do some damage.

Main Photo Credit: Taya Gray/The Desert Sun/USA TODAY NETWORK

The final tournament of the Golden Swing on clay in South America is the ATP Chile Open.
