The opening match of her 2025 campaign sees her taking on Peyton Stearns. Who do you think will come out on top?

WTA Doha Day 3 Predictions

Linda Noskova vs Yulia Putintseva

Head-to-head: Putintseva 1-0

Linda Noskova has been really strong during this Middle Eastern swing and produced a very dominant win over Paula Badosa on the way to the Abu Dhabi semifinals. She’s also not slowing down here, taking out Donna Vekic in the opening round. But this isn’t a matchup the Czech enjoys, Yulia Putintseva’s gritty counter-punching is usually a great invitation for errors from more attacking opposition. Noskova might have to come up with something special here.
Prediction: Putintseva in 3

Qinwen Zheng vs Ons Jabeur

Head-to-head: Zheng 2-0

Qinwen Zheng dominated her previous two meetings with Ons Jabeur, but things might not be so simple for her this time around. She hasn’t played in almost a month since suffering a surprising exit to Laura Siegemund at the Australian Open, while Jabeur is finally healthy and firing on all cylinders. The Tunisian is in a really good rhythm at the moment and should be able to take the game to Zheng, trying to abuse her more one-dimensional game. She might pull this off.
Prediction: Jabeur in 3

Embed from Getty Images

Elena Rybakina vs Peyton Stearns

Head-to-head: First meeting

Elena Rybakina was right up there with Iga Swiatek during this part of last season, losing to her in a competitive Doha final. The Kazakh has found plenty of that form again after missing most of the second half of 2024. While she lost to Belinda Bencic in the Abu Dhabi semifinals, it took a special performance from the former World No. 4 to stop her. Peyton Stearns has caused some issues for top players before, but it’s all very up-and-down and form-of-the-day reliant. Most of the time she doesn’t come all that close here.
Prediction: Rybakina in 2

Rebecca Sramkova vs Mirra Andreeva

Head-to-head: First meeting

Katie Volynets made it a tough battle for Mirra Andreeva in the opening round and the Russian kind of keeps falling into matches like this against opponents she seemingly should be taking down more comfortably. Some of this is just her playstyle though as she definitely enjoys facing more conventional attacking games rather than players who approach the rallies similarly to her. As such, she should find herself a little bit more comfortable against Rebecca Sramkova.
Prediction: Andreeva in 2

Main Photo Credit: Susan Mullane-USA TODAY Sports

Elena Rybakina made the final at the WTA 1000 in Doha last year and as she hasn’t claimed a title since April; it’s high-time for her to return to the winner’s circle.
