Carlos Alcaraz said he plans to get a kangaroo tattoo if he wins the Australian Open<\/a> for the first time, as he powered into the last 16 in Melbourne on Friday.<\/p>\n

The 21-year-old third seed dropped one set but showcased his array of skills against Portugal\u2019s Nuno Borges on Rod Laver Arena, defeating him 6-2 6-4 6-7(3) 6-2 on his first appearance on the main court this year after playing his first two matches on the adjacent Margaret Court Arena.<\/p>\n

He hit 54 winners and nine aces in a masterclass on baseline play, and he will play either Britain’s Jack Draper or Australia\u2019s Aleksandar Vukic.<\/p>\n

The Spaniard aims to become the youngest male player to achieve a career Grand Slam\u2014winning all four major tournaments\u2014in the Open Era. His compatriot Rafael Nadal accomplished the feat in 2010 at 24.<\/p>\n

If he succeeds, he will also make history as the youngest champion at Melbourne Park since Novak Djokovic\u2019s victory in 2008 and who he will likely need to defeat in the quarterfinal if they both win their upcoming matches.<\/p>\n

Alcaraz is already focused on claiming the trophy and has pledged<\/a> to get a kangaroo tattoo if he wins the title.<\/p>\n
