But who will advance at Melbourne Park?<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Australian Open Day 2 Predictions<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Petra Martic vs Jaqueline Cristian<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ilemona: Jaqueline Cristian is favoured to win against Petra Martic, with Martic\u2019s recent struggles on hard courts putting her at a disadvantage. Martic made it into the main draw as a lucky loser after failing to win her final qualifying round match. Her experience at this level should boost her chances of capitalizing on the second chance afforded her here.<\/p>\n<p><em>Prediction: Martic in 3<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Andreas: Martic lost dreadfully in the final round of qualifying, but she\u2019ll get some redemption opportunities here. Cristian had a career-best season in 2024 but notably went winless in all the Grand Slams. She should be motivated to win here with the higher ranking, but Martic has the experience and consistency of playing in 13 Australian Opens. Linette\u2019s higher ranking and strong form suggest she will come through in this match.<\/p>\n<p><em>Prediction: Linette in 2 <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Andreas: Linette has struggled in recent matches, but will always have the confidence of being a former semifinalist in this event. Uchijima has continued to rise up the rankings as of late and should be the favorite by form, but it\u2019s hard to look away from Linette\u2019s experience and her three wins over the Japanese #2.<\/p>\n<p><em>Prediction: Linette in 3<\/em><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Victora Azarenka vs Lucia Bronzetti<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Ilemona: Victoria Azarenka\u2019s experience and strong record at the Australian Open give her the clear advantage over Lucia Bronzetti, who has struggled in Grand Slam first rounds. Azarenka has reached the fourth round in 11 of her last 13 appearances at Melbourne Park, while Bronzetti\u2019s form in majors has been inconsistent, with a 3-9 record in first-round matches. Expect Azarenka to dominate, maintaining her excellent start to the tournament.<\/p>\n<p><em>Prediction: Azarenka in 2 <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Andreas: This feels like an extra important tournament for Azarenka, who is now 12 years off her second and final Australian Open title, and is longing for another big run at a Grand Slam. Bronzetti has a tricky topspin game that could throw off Azarenka\u2019s power, but the Italian largely struggled toward the end of 2024.
