Danielle Collins isn’t calling it a career just yet.<\/p>\n
After planning for her retirement at the end of the 2024 season, the 30-year-old American will return to the WTA Tour in 2025, according to a post<\/a> uploaded to her social media pages.<\/p>\n Collins had cited ongoing issues with\u00a0endometriosis, a uterus condition, as one of her reasons for retiring. She openly discussed the condition with fans and the media in recent months,<\/a>\u00a0while also stating that she wanted to start a family.<\/p>\n Various injuries and endometriosis affected her decision to continue playing on the WTA Tour, according to her post.<\/p>\n “While I was very excited and eager to wrap up my tennis career on a high note this year and jump headfirst into my next chapter of life, things have not gone as planned,” Collins wrote. She had previously planned to retire at the Billie Jean King Cup this November.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Collins first announced her retirement at a press conference after a second-round loss at the 2024 Australian Open. Her form then improved<\/a> \u2014 the American won her biggest career title at the Miami Open in March and won another title one week later at the Credit One Charleston Open.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Her Grand Slam appearances in 2024 didn’t go entirely to plan, as Collins compiled a 5-4 record and lost in the first round of the US Open<\/a>. But her ranking re-entered the Top 10 after her consecutive title victories, and she holds a 38-16 record for the 2024 season.<\/p>\n
