Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova was knocked out of the US Open in the second round on Wednesday, she fell at the hands of Romania\u2019s\u00a0Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-4 7-5.<\/p>\n
The No. 8 seeded Krejcikova won her second Grand Slam singles title this summer, but then she didn\u2019t play any matches after the Paris Olympics. She was upfront last week about not knowing where her level of play was in the lead up to the US Open.<\/p>\n
Her opponent on the day was just too good and the level from the Wimbledon<\/a> champion was no match for her. Krejcikova hadn\u2019t played a tournament on hard courts since February and it would have taken a bit of luck for her to play herself into a form great enough to repeat the history of winning both Wimbledon and the US Open<\/a> in the same year, a feat no other woman has repeated since Serena Williams\u2019s haul in 2012.<\/p>\n \u201cI think I was playing quite well, definitely better than in the first match.
