The quest for Gold features some of the top players in the sport. As always, we here at LastWordOnTennis will predict all matches for you. Predicting these matches are Yesh Ginsburg Jordan Reynolds. Who do you think will move on to Round 2?

We will link to our other Olympic predictions, including doubles, at the bottom of the article. Enjoy!

Paris Olympics Day 2 Women’s Doubles Predictions

Cristina Bucsa and Sara Sorribes Tormo (Spain) vs Lucia Bronzetti and Elisabetta Cocciaretto (Italy)

Yesh
This should be a fun one. All four women like clay and all are fine with doubles. I think the Italians’ games complement each other just a little bit better, but this should be close.
Prediction: Bronzetti and Cocciaretto in 3

Jordan
Neither of the Italian players have been to the third-round of a Grand Slam in doubles. By contrast, Sorribes Tormo and Bucsa have both been to at least a quarterfinal at that level. The Spaniards are more likely to gel effectively as a pair with their tactical awareness in doubles.
Prediction: Bucsa/Sorribes Tormo in 2

[tgdcta items=”1″ id=”170466″]

Magda Linette and Alicja Rosolska (Poland) vs Dayana Yastremska and Marta Kostyuk (Ukraine)

Yesh
This battle will come down to matchups. Yastremska and Linette can keep up with each other power for power, but Kostyuk has more experience and talent than Rosoklska.
Prediction: Yastremska and Kostyuk in 2

Jordan
All the players have pretty similar track records in women’s doubles throughout their careers. It is tough to pick a winning pair, but I will go with the Ukrainians. At their best, I feel Kostyuk and Yastremska are capable of more complete tennis.
Prediction: Yastremska/Kostyuk in 10-point tiebreak

Shuko Aoyana and Ena Shibahara (Japan) vs Ana Bogdan and Jaqueline Cristian (Romania)

Yesh
This will be a rough match for the Romanians, running into one of true doubles pairs in the draw. The Japanese women aren’t quite in the Top 10 anymore, but they’re still very good.
Prediction: Aoyana and Shibahara in 2

Jordan
Bogdan and Cristian are better singles players, but the Japanese pair have better doubles records. I don’t think Bogdan or Cristian have games that are very natural for doubles either. Aoyama and Shibahara to progress in straight sets.
Prediction: Aoyama Shibahara in 2

Caroline Garcia and Diane Parry (France) vs Arantxa Rus and Demi Schuurs (Netherlands)

Yesh
Unfortunately for the home fans, the two Frenchwomen here aren’t nearly as comfortable on the doubles court as on the singles. The Dutchwomen, meanwhile, both love doubles. That’s a rough combination.
Prediction: Rus and Schuurs in 2

Jordan
Garcia and Parry could be dark horses in the doubles draw. Each are good servers and volleyers, and are capable of putting pressure on their opponents with that style. Garcia also won the French Open doubles title in 2016 and 2022. I expect them to make a good start against the Dutch pair.
Prediction: Garcia/Parry in 2

[tgdcta items=”1″ id=”170460″]

Other Olympic Predictions:

Men’s day two singles including Casper Ruud vs Taro Daniel

Men’s day two singles including Lorenzo Musetti vs Gael Monfils

Men’s day two singles including Alexander Zverev vs Jaume Munar

Men’s day two singles including Rafael Nadal vs Marton Fucsovics

Women’s day two singles including Barbora Krejcikova vs Sara Sorribes Tormo

Women’s day two singles including Caroline Wozniacki vs Mayar Sherif

Women’s day two singles including Jessica Pegula vs Viktoriya Golubic

Women’s day two singles including Coco Gauff vs Ajla Tomljanovic

Men’s day two doubles including Fritz and Paul vs Auger-Aliassime and Raonic

Men’s day two doubles including Tsitsipas and Tsitsipas vs Borges and Cabral

Men’s day two doubles including Murray and Evans vs Nishikori and Daniel

Women’s day two doubles including Collins and Krawczyk vs Sakkari and Papamichail

Main Photo Credit: Sam Greene – The Enquirer – USA TODAY NETWORK

The tennis tournaments at the Paris Olympics continue with eight women’s doubles matches on Sunday.
