Day 2 of Wimbledon brings a full half of the women’s first round–32 matches in all. And as always, we here at LastWordOnTennis predict every single one for you. We split Tuesday’s matches between eight articles. In addition to this one, our other articles feature Iga Swiatek vs Sofia Kenin<\/a>, Jelena Ostapenko vs Ajla Tomljanovic<\/a>, Danielle Collins vs Clara Tauson<\/a>, Barbora Krejcikova vs Veronika Kudermetova<\/a>, Jessica Pegula vs Ashlyn Kreuger<\/a>, Caroline Wozniacki vs Alycia Parks<\/a>, and Ons Jabeur vs Moyuka Uchijima<\/a>. Predicting these matches are Damian Kust, Jordan Reynolds, and Manuel Traquete. Who do you think will win?<\/p>\n

Wimbledon Day 2 Predictions<\/h2>\n

Leylah Fernandez vs Lucia Bronzetti<\/h4>\n

Damian:<\/em>
\nFernandez will need to try to avoid a hiccup after her big run last week, but the good thing for her is that Bronzetti isn’t particularly dangerous. You know what you’re gonna get from her and if you’re a creative player like the Canadian, you should be ready.
\nPrediction: Fernandez in 2<\/em><\/p>\n

Jordan:<\/em>
\nFernandez comes into this contest after a run to the final in Eastbourne. The Canadian still needs to be wary of Bronzetti, who strikes the ball very cleanly at her best. I think Fernandez will win, but it could be a tight battle.
\nPrediction: Fernandez in 3<\/em><\/p>\n

Manuel:<\/em>
\nFernandez had a great run in Eastbourne and seems ready to finally start delivering on the promise shown<\/a> at the 2021 US Open<\/a>. Bronzetti isn’t an easy first round opponent here, but Fernandez should still pull through.

Kateryna Baindl vs Laura Siegemund<\/h4>\n

Damian:<\/em>
\nOf the two veterans it’s Siegemund who seems like a more interesting proposition. She’s got the volley game to wrap up points on grass and just overall she’s probably more potent with her weapons, but also a lot more unpredictable.
\nPrediction: Siegemund in 2<\/em><\/p>\n

Jordan:<\/em>
\nThis is a great opportunity for both players. Siegemund only has won previous victory to her name at Wimbledon, while Baindl has lost all five of her matches at SW19. Yet, I am backing Baindl to break that streak against the German. Her game is capable of disrupting 36-year-old Siegemund, who may focus more on the doubles due to her record in singles at the event.
\nPrediction: Baindl in 2<\/em><\/p>\n

Manuel:<\/em>
\nSiegemund comes into this tournament on a three-match losing streak, but on paper she got a pretty fortunate draw here against the World #175 and she should be able to make it to the second round.
