Parry is clearly in better form against an opponent who’s won just twice all season. The French woman will also be eager to even the head-to-head.
Prediction: Parry in 2

[tgdcta items=”1″ id=”170460″]

Elina Avanesyan vs Oceane Dodin

Head–to–Head: First Meeting

Elina Avanesyan has won as many games as she has lost this season. She retired in her most recent match against Anastasija Sevastova and will be hoping she stays on her feet as she debuts here in Indian Wells.

Oceane Dodin boasts an impressive 11-4 win-loss ratio this year, even though she surprisingly struggled to get past lower-ranked players at the recent ITF event in Germany, eventually losing to 208th-ranked Julia Avdeeva in the semis.

The Frenchwoman is more accustomed to hard courts but her current form cannot be trusted. If Avanesyan is fully fit, she’s in with a shout.
Prediction: Avanesyan in 3

Embed from Getty Images

Wang Xinyu vs Anna Karolina Schmiedlova

Head–to–Head: Xinyu 1 vs 0 Schmiedlova

Schmiedlova arrives here on the back of a superb semifinal run in Austin and if she can re-enact her game, she stands a chance against Wang Xinyu. While she’ll be hoping to change her fortunes on home soil, her negative win–loss record at this event won’t provide much confidence against an opponent she’s meeting for the first time.

Tomova isn’t doing great either with the quarterfinal reach in Hobart being the only spark this season. She did manage to qualify for the main draw in Dubai but was sent packing in the first round.

Tricky one to call.
