Her draw this week hasn’t been easy; after dispatching grass court specialist Tatjana Maria, she’ll have to take on a former Top 25 player. Meanwhile, other seeds look to build up momentum prior to Wimbledon.

Day 4 Bad Homburg WTA Predictions

Katerina Siniakova vs Evgeniya Rodina

Head-to-head: Siniakova 1-0

Both players won rather easily in round 1, with Siniakova notably taking out seventh seed Cocciaretto 6-3 6-4. Siniakova’s volleying skills due to her doubles prowess definitely helps her game on grass, although she’s known to have successful tournaments on all surfaces. While Rodina seems to be improving in form after a hiatus, Siniakova should get through this.
Prediction: Siniakova in 2

Embed from Getty Images

Mayar Sherif vs Lucia Bronzetti

Head-to-head: First meeting

Slight upset alert, as Sherif definitely struggled in her first-round match this week. Pulling through late in the third set against Freidsam, she’ll have to play better and shorten matches. Especially a week before a Grand Slam, long matches have the ability to create long-term struggles with injury or fatigue. Bronzetti has an exciting game new to the tour, and she could very well cause an upset here.
Prediction: Bronzetti in 3

[cta id=4014 type=cta]

Leylah Fernandez vs Anna Blinkova

Head-to-head: Fernandez 1-0

After losing a multitude of ranking points at the French Open, Fernandez needs to rebound and regain a lot of these points soon. She looked great in her first round match, cruising through 6-0 6-1. Blinkova has a very hit-or-miss game, exploiting on opponent’s weaknesses well. This has helped the Russian become a great upset specialist, taking out Caroline Garcia in Paris last month. However, Fernandez has a slightly higher ceiling and should come through an upset (by ranking).
Prediction: Fernandez in 2

Embed from Getty Images

Iga Świątek vs Jil Teichmann

Head-to-head: Swiatek 2-0

Teichmann’s game is unfortunately way off from where it used to be. The Swiss’ forehand can do a lot of damage on a fast court, but she hasn’t been able to work points well and can often go down in a sea of unforced errors. In a one-sided matchup, Teichmann has only won five games total against Swiatek in two matches. Meanwhile, the Pole absolutely needs matches going into Wimbledon. A lack of matches played into Swiatek’s shocking loss to Cornet at Wimbledon, so winning a 250 here will absolutely help her confidence next week.
Prediction: Świątek in 2

Main Photo Credit: Susan Mullane-USA TODAY Sports

The remainder of the second round at the WTA 250 in Bad Homburg takes place on Day 4, featuring none other than World No. 1 Iga Swiatek.
