He marched to the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/tennis\/2017\/11\/05\/jack-sock-wins-first-masters-title-qualifies-atp-finals\/\" target=\"_self\"><strong>Rolex Paris Masters <\/strong>final<\/a> and gave the in form <strong>Jack Sock<\/strong> a heck of a game, only just losing out in a compelling three set encounter. Before that he defeated Next Gen\u2019 ace <strong>Andrey Rublev<\/strong> on his way to the last-16 at the <strong>Kremlin Cup<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Shoulder and wrist injuries have thwarted any real progress from this former junior star, but he seems to be enjoying a run of fitness. It would be wise to follow the Serb early on next year. This represented an eye-opening start to the season. Four first round defeats on the run after that, underlined how frustrating a player Zverev can be.<\/p>\n<p>A run to the final in <strong>Geneva<\/strong> and a John Isner defeating journey to last 16 of the <strong>US Open<\/strong> \u2013 were the other performances of note. Perhaps he is most famous for a particular shot &#8211; that cheeky between the legs tweener\u00a0 that stunned <strong>Rafael Nadal<\/strong> at the Paris Masters. <strong>Pablo<\/strong> <strong>Cuevas<\/strong> still lost the match in three sets, but showed he\u2019ll have a great career on the exhibition circuit. They met four times and the honours were even on the year, but 9-11 in Monfils\u2019 favour overall. <strong>Richard Gasquet\u2019s<\/strong> loss to Monfils at the <strong>Aegon International<\/strong> at the semi-finals stage represented a missed opportunity. Monfils was only at around 50% fitness and was clearly struggling with injury, but Gasquet found a way to lose the match and miss out on a needed final appearance.<\/p>\n<p>He did beat <strong>Florian Mayer<\/strong> in the final of the <strong>Sczcecin Open<\/strong>, in September. He captured two titles including the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atpworldtour.com\/en\/news\/dzumhur-moscow-2017-sunday\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kremlin Cup in Moscow<\/a>, where he defeated<strong> Ricardas Berankis<\/strong> in the final. Drawing inspiration from his model girlfriend, <strong>Dejana Zivkovic<\/strong>, the Bosnian caught the eye for his consistency last season.
