As always, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for every match on the slate, including <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/tennis\/2022\/10\/17\/wta-guadalajara-day-2-predictions-kalinskaya-krejcikova\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">Anna Kalinskaya vs Barbora Krejcikova<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/tennis\/2022\/10\/17\/wta-guadalajara-day-2-predictions-haddad-maia-siniakova\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">Beatriz Haddad Maia vs Katerina Siniakova<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/tennis\/2022\/10\/18\/wta-guadalajara-day-2-predictions-rybakina-pliskova\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">Elena Rybakina vs Karolina Pliskova<\/a>. But who will come out on top in Guadalajara?<\/p>\n<h2><strong>WTA Guadalajara Day 2 Predictions<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h4><strong>Elisabetta Cocciaretto vs Anastasia Potapova<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Head-to-head: <\/strong>first meeting<\/p>\n<p>Italian young gun Elisabetta Cocciaretto put together an impressive qualifying campaign, beating Canada\u2019s Chloe Zhao and home hope Renata Zarazua for the loss of only a handful of games to reach the main draw in Guadalajara. But she probably won\u2019t find things quite so straightforward up against Anastasia Potapova. The Russian has been in solid, if not spectacular form of late and played some good tennis to reach the semifinals in Cluj. That said, the change in conditions might not be to her advantage and the relatively short turnaround certainly won\u2019t be. For one thing, that match was played three years ago in very different conditions in the French Open qualifying, for another Bouzkova has not really kicked on in the intervening years. She has also been out of action since losing in the second round at the US Open. Tereza Martincova, meanwhile, arrives at the WTA Guadalajara Open fresh from a confidence-building run to the quarterfinals in Ostrava. Injuries have, of course, played their part, but it would be stretching credibility to pin the blame for her considerable struggles since reaching the 2014 Wimbledon final just on injuries and it is almost impossible to imagine her competing in another final. This looks like a winnable match, however. She beat Kayla Day in their only previous meeting and the American was perhaps fortune to benefit from Coco Vandeweghe\u2019s third-set retirement in the final round of qualifying. She did reach the final at the WTA Emilia-Romagna Open, but was stunned by Mayar Sherif and there has been precious little else for the Greek to celebrate after a string of first-round exits. This is still, in theory at least, a match that she should be winning, but that has not meant much of late. Particularly because Marta Kostyuk delivered an excellent first-round performance to dismiss Aliaksandra Sasnovich for the loss of only four games.
