Although she stopped it this week, she’ll now face a 17-year-old who’s been rising meteorically through the rankings. It’s only a matter of time until Fruhvirtova breaks into the Top 100 and she even has a great opportunity to win the title this week.
Predictions: Fruhvirtova in 2

Embed from Getty Images

Magda Linette vs Rebecca Marino

Head-to-head: first meeting

Although Linette is the highest ranked player left in the draw, she’s far from a big favorite to win it all here. That said, she’s the slight favorite to prevail in this match despite the fact that Marino seems to be in pretty good shape, having reached the third round at the US Open and not dropped a set so far in Chennai. This should be a very tight match, with very little to choose between the two players.
Prediction: Linette in 3

Embed from Getty Images

Katie Swan vs Nao Hibino

Head-to-head: Swan 1-0 Hibino

It’s very rare to see a WTA level quarterfinal between two players ranked outside the top 170, but here we are. It’s a great opportunity for both players and both will do their absolute best to make it to the final weekend.
