Roger Federer is reportedly back on the tennis court, training hard and is eyeing a possible return to tennis at the 2022 Australian Open.<\/p>\n
Darren Cahill, a respected television analyst for ESPN, former coach to Simona Halep and native Australian said on the Aussie TV program Sportsday<\/em> that he’s “pretty sure” Federer will play in Melbourne in January<\/a>.<\/p>\n The 20-time Grand Slam Champion underwent a third surgery<\/a> on his knee after a strong run into the\u00a0quarterfinals at Wimbledon this year.<\/p>\n Tennis pundits<\/a> and fans on social media<\/a> once again predicted the end of the Swiss maestro’s career, even though Federer himself left the door very much open<\/a> to another comeback<\/a>.<\/p>\n The 2022 Australian Open has already been a swirl of controversy, with the Australian Federal Government and the Australian state of Victoria at odds over whether or not players should be required to be fully vaccinated for Covid-19 this year.<\/p>\n Novak Djokovic, who has won the Australian Open a record nine times, has said that he will make a decision about playing down under after the vaccine and quarantine policy<\/a> has been announced.<\/p>\n Now 40 years old, Federer has won the Australian Open six times, including memorable runs in 2017 and 2018.<\/p>\n
