The rest of the Manic Monday competitors will be determined. Who will advance to compete on the best day in tennis? Who will fall short? Our writers predict all eight of the matches on Day 6 of Wimbledon. We look at four in this article, and four in a second article. Predicting this set of matches are Anurag Sahay, Jack Edward, and Damian Kust.

Wimbledon Day 6 Women’s Predictions

Barbora Krejcikova vs Anastasija Sevastova

Anurag:
The Latvian registered impressive wins in Eastbourne before coming into Wimbledon. Both ladies have similar playing styles and that should make for an interesting match. Krejcikova’s confidence, however, is on its peak following a title run at Roland Garros, not to mention her imperious form, and that should tip the scales in her favor. She served very well in the second round win, so expect her to make the second week.
Prediction: Krejcikova in 3

Jack:
Krejcikova is here to show everybody her Roland Garros run wasn’t a flash in the pan. One of the most adaptable and mentally tough players on the tour, her confidence is enough to see most players packing their bags. Sevastova is enjoying her first Wimbledon third round but doesn’t have the grass court pedigree to go any further. The reigning French Open champion will take the win.
Prediction: Krejcikova in 2

Damian:
I’m still not convinced Krejcikova’s game works just as well on grass as on clay (at least in singles), but this is a very nice draw for her. It looks like she’s avoided the typical first Grand Slam hangover and seems match tough and ready to rack up wins again (but perhaps not for a run as deep as in Paris).
Prediction: Krejcikova in 2

Embed from Getty Images

Sorana Cirstea vs Emma Raducanu

Anurag:
The British wild card is a hard-courter with all her grass experience coming from the last few weeks. That said, both her first and second serve percentages at over 80% are very impressive. Cirstea, on the other hand, caused a huge upset of former World No.1 Victoria Azarenka on her way to the third round. The Romanian has a lot more experience but neither is a grass-court specialist. This should be an intriguing matchup. Raducanu’s serve should trouble her, but expect the Romanian to make it to Manic Monday.
Prediction: Cirstea in 3

Jack:
As a Brit, my heart says Raducanu will back up her win against Vondrousova. She was playing aggressive tennis worthy of the top 100, nothing like her #338 ranking would suggest. Cirstea played fantastically against Azarenka, however, and is arguably playing the best tennis of her career. My brain tells me Raducanu will be successful at Wimbledon, but this year is not her year.
Prediction: Cirstea in 2

Damian:
It’s been a fantastic effort from the 18-year-old Brit, who’s managed to grab two straight set wins in her first-ever Grand Slam main draw. Cirstea has a lot of experience though and the win over Azarenka required her to stay at a very high level for an extended period of time. Another upset is possible but only if the Romanian can’t play as well as on Thursday.
Prediction: Cirstea in 2

Embed from Getty Images

Karolina Muchova vs Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova

Anurag:
The big-serving Muchova excels on gard courts and it was not much of a surprise to see her power her way through big names into the semifinals at the Australian Open this year. Grass is a different equation, and she has only played 21 matches on the surface. Although Muchova usually tends to toil through most of her matches, her big serve comes in handy, especially on grass. The Russian is awful on grass and without enough match practice this season, she is not going to make it to the second week.
Prediction: Muchova in 3

Jack:
This could be the match of the day. Both women are peaking in form, Pavlyuchenkova hammering her returns to dust and Muchova establishing herself as one of the game’s top contenders. It will be very close but I’ll give the edge to the French Open runner-up.
Prediction: Pavlyuchenkova in 3

Damian:
Muchova could very well be a dark horse here. She’s done really well at the last edition of Wimbledon and her game is a great fit for this surface. The Czech’s win against Giorgi was really impressive and after that test, she should be able to handle Pavlyuchenkova’s hitting. It’s the Russian’s worst Slam and making French Open finals, her hunger might not be there yet.
Prediction: Muchova in 3

Embed from Getty Images

Coco Gauff vs Kaja Juvan

Anurag:
The Slovenian was on a five match losing streak before coming into Wimbledon. Although she looked strong with thumping wins over Bencic and Burel, I doubt she can maintain the same level a third time. The American’s ball-striking was top class on both forehand and backhand in the second round match, although the Russian wasn’t quite playing at her best all year. Guaff also commands an impressive 78% win-loss record on grass, and I take her on that.
Prediction: Gauff in 2

Jack:
Has the 17-year-old arrived ahead of schedule? On her way to making her first Grand Slam quarterfinal at the French Open and winning her second title in Parma, Gauff’s tennis has been looking more and more dependable. The double fault rate is going down, the baseline errors are less erratic–Juvan took Gauff to three sets at the start of the year but Gauff is better than she was in January. Expect the American to walk this one.
Prediction: Gauff in 2

Damian:
It’s hard to say what exactly changed in Gauff’s game over the past few months, but the youngster seems fully ready to start conquering the women’s game at the moment. Former semifinalist Vesnina wasn’t an easy second round opponent but the way Gauff easily came through that makes me think she might be eyeing a huge run here.
Prediction: Gauff in 2

Main Photo:
Embed from Getty Images

The first week of Wimbledon wraps up on Saturday, Day 6 of the Championships.
