The rest of the Manic Monday competitors will be determined. Who will advance to compete on the best day in tennis? Who will fall short? Our writers predict all eight of the matches on Day 6 of Wimbledon. We look at four in this article, and four in a second article. Predicting this set of matches are Andrew Watson, Jack Edward, and Damian Kust.

Wimbledon Day 6 Women’s Predictions

Jelena Ostapenko vs Ajla Tomljanovic

Andrew:
The Latvian came through a really tight test against Daria Kasatkina in the last round and that match was always going to be decisive in her campaign. I like her chances to get through this match although Tomljanovic can beat most players on her day I just think that Ostapenko has found a really rich vein of form right now.
Prediction: Ostapenko in 2

Jack:
Ostapenko, the hit-or-miss Latvian, is back to playing some of her best tennis. She won in Eastbourne in a stacked draw and squeaked passed Daria Kasatkina, one of the game’s fiercest competitors, in her second round here. Tomljanovic has had some respectable wins this season but a more hit-than-miss Ostapenko will probably be a step too far. Ostapenko will go AWOL for a set and refocus to take the last two.
Prediction: Ostapenko in 3

Damian:
The popcorn matchup of Ostapenko and Kasatkina certainly lived up to the hype, particularly in terms of sheer drama. Now that she’s made it through, Ostapenko could be really dangerous here. She’s done well at Wimbledon before and it looks like her all-or-nothing game suits both natural surfaces, perhaps it works even better on grass.
Prediction: Ostapenko in 2

Embed from Getty Images

Magda Linette vs Paula Badosa

Andrew:
Tough match to call but I think that Paula Badosa is starting to show an extra level of quality and leaving that mediocre ranking behind her. It has been impressive that she has transitioned so well from the clay to the grass and the demolition of the talented Putintseva in the last round confirmed that.
Prediction: Badosa in 3

Jack:
Badosa had a string of incredibly impressive results on the clay and is continuing to fight just as hard on the grass. Fight alone doesn’t win you matches, however, and, despite her big serve, she has not yet proved herself dangerous on grass. Linette is playing confident tennis – let’s not forget, though the world #1 was carrying an injury, Linette had to put on a solid performance in their first set to force Barty to retire at the French Open. Linette’s return game will prove too much for Badosa, who will fight but ultimately fall.
Prediction: Linette in 3

Damian:
Was her match against Svitolina the best one Linette has ever played? Quite possibly, but the Pole has had a lot of great performances since teaming up with a new coach in May. She seems stronger mentally too, which used to be a big issue with her. Maintaining her level from the second round should give her a win here.
Prediction: Linette in 3

Embed from Getty Images

Angelique Kerber vs Aliaksandra Sasnovich

Andrew:
What an absolute epic Kerber won in the last round against Sara Sorribes Tormo. Though the time on court won’t have been welcome for the veteran it did sharpen her up for this. Sasnovich did well to get up for the second round after the weird first round against Serena Williams. I prefer the German here though, she seems determined to go far.
Prediction: Kerber in 3

Jack:
Kerber is finally finding the form that won her three majors. After a rocky few years, Kerber won in Bad Homburg in the run-up to Wimbledon, her first title since winning at SW19 in 2018. Her scrappy win in her second round over Sara Sorribes Tormo suggests she is feeing more motivated than ever. Sasnovich, on the other hand… it’s not a stretch to say she might not be here if it weren’t for the slipperiness of Centre Court. The two-time champion’s run will continue.
Prediction: Kerber in 2

Damian:
The former champion woke up with her Bad Homburg title run and she’s now almost back to her very best. The marathon win over Sorribes Tormo also showcased she can fight her way to a win against a peaking opponent. This will likely be on her racket, although recovering from that second-round clash could be an issue.
Prediction: Kerber in 2

Embed from Getty Images

Asleigh Barty vs Katerina Siniakova

Andrew:
Most will think that the Aussie will win this one comfortably but Siniakova will be no walkover here. The Czech has been playing very well recently and has always seemed to suit the grass courts. I predict this will go to three sets albeit I still favour Barty to get the job done ultimately.
Prediction: Barty in 3

Jack:
Both Siniakova and Barty possess a ton of variety in their game and are more than comfortable coming forward – they’ve actually already played nine times on the doubles tour, Barty leading that head to head 7-2. Though Siniakova is playing well, I think their first singles match will end in the same result, Barty having one too many weapons for Siniakova to handle, and will take it in two tight sets.
Prediction: Barty in 2

Damian:
Barty’s game very naturally suits the grass and she remains the top favorite to win this event. Siniakova’s playing very well in recent weeks but Barty’s deadly slice and ability to problem solve should help her get through even if the Czech comes up with a great performance.
Prediction: Barty in 2

Main Photo:
Embed from Getty Images

The first week of Wimbledon wraps up on Saturday, Day 6 of the Championships.
