On paper an opponent like the Australian should be great to get himself back into winning ways but Polmans perhaps found some good form this month barely losing to top 60 player Marton Fucsovics who later went onto beat Stan Wawrinka. It should be close but Uchiyama’s poor results are likely to continue.
Prediction: Polmans in 3

Embed from Getty Images

James Duckworth vs Yannick Hanfmann

Head-to-head: 0-0

One of the better more competitive matches on paper from the event in Singapore features the World #100 against #105, and of course one of them just happens to also be Australian just like two of the day’s other matches. Duckworth is the better hard court player, so while this could go either way, I think he’ll come through in the end.
Prediction: Duckworth in 3

Embed from Getty Images

Altug Celikbilek vs Shintaro Mochizuki

Head-to-head: 0-0

I would be lying if I told you I was too familiar either of these men before this event. IOne is ranked #639 and the other #302. Regardless of that, it’s nice for lower ranked players to have the chance to play in an ATP event and on the main court as well. Wild card Mochizuki has struggled for Futures level wins, while the Turkish player on the other hand had two solid qualifying wins here to enter the main draw. I would be shocked if Mochizuki is able to put up a fight.
Prediction: Celikbilek in 2

Embed from Getty Images

Radu Albot vs John-Patrick Smith

Head-to-head: 0-0

Finally a seed in action!
