The Serbian is playing some of his most inspired tennis in 2020, showing the sport may be full of young guns but it is the veterans that still dominate the game. Djokovic has started off the year in superb form, claiming 18 wins from 18 matches. The Serbian will be one of leading sportsbooks\u2019 favorites to claim the top honors at major tennis events in 2020.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although Djokovic&#8217;s start to the season has been phenomenal, it isn\u2019t yet as good as his beginning in 2011. That season saw the tennis star post 41 consecutive wins to kick off the year. Djokovic\u2019s start this season included a record eighth win at the Australian Open. It was the second straight year he won Down Under, and his fourth Grand Slam win in his last seven tries.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Djokovic\u2019s inspiration to succeed<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Djokovic, he doesn\u2019t simply rely on what has won him trophies in the past. The Serbian adapts and adjusts his game each season based on the match experiences he has. Djokovic\u2019s success is due to his different ways of training. But it isn\u2019t just the on-court training that continually improves the Serbian\u2019s play. Djokovic and his team <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com\/pro-game\/2020\/02\/djokovic-explains-mentality-behind-his-unbeaten-start-season\/87733\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">put a lot of focus on<\/a> \u201crecovery or mental training, emotional training.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Djokovic has now won 17 career Grand Slam titles. The win in Melbourne puts him within two of long-time rival Rafael Nadal. Djokovic could tie and\/or break<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordontennis.com\/2019\/06\/15\/rafael-nadal-is-the-hellhound-on-roger-federers-trail\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Nadal\u2019s total of 19 Grand Slam<\/a> titles this season. Could the Serbian do it? It is possible ,as he won three Grand Slam tournaments during the 2011 season with the French Open the only major event not won. (He might have to wait another year to catch Roger Federer&#8217;s record of 20.)<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Still hungry for more<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Djokovic\u2019s win in Australia made him look back on growing up in war-torn Yugoslavia. He stated that life was hard and the things that people in many countries take for granted were very hard to come by. Life growing up inspired Djokovic to work hard. It was a life that made him stronger and hungrier for success on and off the tennis court.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The tennis legend remains hungry to win more trophies and push himself to become the greatest men\u2019s tennis player in history. This year is likely to see Djokovic play in the Summer Olympics in Tokyo alongside fellow Serbian Viktor Troicki in the doubles tennis event. Djokovic will spur on his attempt to win doubles gold with Troicki at the Indian Wells Masters after receiving a wild card entry.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Djokovic seems to be influenced to play in Tokyo by his advancing age. He will be 33 by the time the Olympic tournament starts and it is likely that it will be the last Summer Games he will have a chance to compete in. Will Djokovic\u2019s winning streak continue until the Summer Games?
