She has been battling a back injury, forcing her not to be able to play those Premier 5 tournaments.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Anisimova moved to Florida at a young age. She was afforded the opportunity to develop and accelerate her tennis game. It was noticeable at a young age that she had quite the bright future in the sport. Anisimova captured the 2016 US Open Junior Girls title, as well as becoming the first American in 24 years to make the Junior French Open final.

Amanda Anisimova On the Path to Successful Career

Once she turned professional, Anisimova has experienced meteoric rose. Her first win against a Top 10 opponent came at the 2018 BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, defeating two-time Grand Slam champion Petra Kvitová at 16 years old.

In 2019 alone, Anisimova has beaten two Top 10 opponents, Aryna Sabalenka at the Australian Open and most recently Simona Halep at Roland Garros. Ranked 24th in the world, Anisimova is the youngest player in the WTA Top 100.

For any American teenager, playing at the US Open with the raucous New York crowd behind you is a dream. The rising tennis star was looking to inject enthusiasm into the American contingent of players competing in the tournament.

But now, Amanda Anisimova will have to wait a year. And she will be without the presence of her father when she steps out onto the court once again at Flushing Meadows in the future.

The Anisimova family has not provided a comment on Konstantin Anisimov’s death. Not only was Anisimov the father for the rising tennis prodigy. He was the influence and mentor that got Anisimova into the sport, and was taken away from this world far too soon.

Main Photo from Getty.

Amanda Anisimova will not participate in her country’s Grand Slam.
