Thiem the football fan<\/h3>\n
Off the court, Thiem is a big sports fan – football in particular. In 2017, he created his own football team called 1. TFC Matzendorf, and he particularly supports Chelsea Football Club, based in West London.<\/p>\n
He commented his excitement for the upcoming English Premier League next month. “I am really looking forward to the new season [for Chelsea] since a long time because [Frank] Lampard is the coach now. He was one of the big reasons why I became a Chelsea fan, so I am very happy about that fact and they\u00a0have a transfer ban this year, so they have to play with the young players.”<\/p>\n
“I think there are some really exciting young players in the team. So, I\u2019m happy when the season starts and I cannot wait to watch the matches.”<\/p>\n
