Day 6 winners punch their tickets to the second week, and a chance to play on manic Monday. Who will win on Day 6? Will we see Serena Williams move on, or will the seven-time champion fall? We’re going to predict all eight of the matches for you. Four will be in this article, and we also have the other four Day 6 matches. Predicting this set of matches are Jim Smith, Eric Han, and Tracey Essex.

Wimbledon Day 6 Women’s Predictions

Carla Suarez Navarro vs Lauren Davis

Jim:
Davis scored a great win over Angelique Kerber in the second round and will surely have high hopes of putting together a deep run at the Championships. Suarez Navarro, meanwhile, has performed capably so far. But the Spaniard doesn’t have much affinity for the grass and her run seems destined to end in the third round.
Prediction: Davis in 3

Eric:
Davis looked impressive upsetting the defending champion, Angelique Kerber, in the previous round. But the question is whether she can reproduce that same level of intensity. That match could’ve taken a lot out of the American, and playing Suárez Navarro, Davis cannot afford to drop her level. Suárez Navarro is the favourite and should win in a close one, as Davis’ physical level is a big question mark after her previous match.
Prediction: Suarez Navarro in 3

Tracey:
Carla Suarez Navarro has too much experience and too much talent to be dismissed at this juncture. Granted, Davis has worked hard to get to the third round. But, chances are she won’t make it to the fourth.
Prediction: Suarez Navarro in 2

Embed from Getty Images

Magda Linette vs Petra Kvitova

Jim:
Kvitova has gone slightly under the radar so far at the All England Club, but expect that to change if she can reach the second week. Up against Poland’s Linette, who has played some fine ball so far this week, she will need to be at her best. But she has the power to dominate and if she is zoned in, this should be a reasonably comfortable outing for the two-time former champion.
Prediction: Kvitova in 2

Eric:
Kvitová should cruise through, as the two time champion here is looking in good form. The Czech is one on of the heavy favourites to go deep in the tournament and should not lose early here.
Prediction: Kvitova in 2

Tracey:
Magda Linette certainly impressed, taking out American Amanda Anisimova in straight sets. The Pole made it look easy and her level of play is solid. Yet, Petra Kvitova is in fine form, winning both of her previous matches in straight sets. Twice the champion here, it’s hard to see the Czech not come through. Kvitova is just at a different level of skill and experience than the Pole.
Prediction: Kvitova in 2

Embed from Getty Images

Kiki Bertens vs Barbora Strycova

Jim:
This should be a great match. Bertens prefers the clay, but she has played well so far at Wimbledon and deserves her place in the third round. That said, she will be hard up against it when she takes to the court against Strycova. The Czech’s aggressive, net-rushing game should see her past the Dutchwoman and back into the fourth round.
Prediction: Strycova in 3

Eric:
Strycova is a tricky player to play on grass and could trouble Bertens here. But, I feel given Bertens’ form she should edge the Czech. It could be close, though.
Prediction: Bertens in 2

Tracey:
Kiki Bertens is the better player. More consistent and creating so many break point opportunities. Sure, she had a scare against American Taylor Townsend, but I think that happened at a good time. Bertens will hone in on what it will take to move on. Strycova is playing well, but doesn’t have what it takes to bounce Bertens at this point.
Prediction: Bertens in 3

Embed from Getty Images

Serena Williams vs Julia Goerges

Jim:
A rematch of last year’s semifinal which Williams won comfortably, this one may not be quite so straightforward for the great American. Goerges come into this match in great form, whilst Williams has looked rather shaky. The German has the game to impose herself on Williams and, if she can keep her composure, expect her to do just that.
Prediction: Goerges in 2

Eric:
Serena looked a bit rusty in her last match, and at times it looked as though she could’ve lost. But we have seen so many times that Serena has one bad match at a Slam, and cruising in her next few matches. It could be the same tomorrow for Serena.
Prediction: Williams in 2

Tracey:
While Serena’s second round win was anything but impressive, it’s a win nonetheless. I think she’s shaking off the rust – it’s only her fifth match since the Miami Open. The head to head is in Williams’ favor, leading 4-0. Goerges is playing exceptionally well, but could stand to clean up the unforced error count. It’ll take the 23 time Slam champion so serious effort, but Serena should come through in a tough three setter.
Prediction: Williams in 3

Main Photo:
Embed from Getty Images

Saturday at Wimbledon will wrap up the third round.
