So far, we have seen surprises, upsets, and plenty of quality tennis. Day 4 will see most of the seeds, as 13 of the 16 seeds who played on Tuesday won their matches. Will we see more fall on Thursday? It’s definitely possible, as no one knows what Day 4 will bring. We’re going to do our best to predict the action for you, though. We predict every single match. This set of predictions contains four matches, but there are three other sets coming your way. Predicting these Day 4 matches are myself (Yesh Ginsburg), Tracey Essex, and David Gertler.

Wimbledon Day 4 Women’s Predictions

Kaia Kanepi vs Belinda Bencic

Tracey:
Kaia Kanepi struggled through her opener against Stefanie Voegele. Nine double faults helped creat the Estonian’s six breaks of serve. I am still convinced we’ll see Belinda Bencic in the final. The Swiss is one of the tour’s best and she dominated in the first round.
Prediction: Bencic in 2

David:
Kaia Kanepi has made the quarterfinals of Wimbledon twice, while Belinda Bencic has made the Round of 16 two times. Kanepi’s power-based game is perfect for faster surfaces, so she is dangerous at Wimbledon. Kanepi will overpower Bencic on the grass.
Prediction: Kanepi in 3

Yesh:
Bencic was utterly dominant in her opening match. I don’t expect much different against Kaia Kanepi in her second.
Prediction: Bencic in 2

Embed from Getty Images

Julia Goerges vs Vavara Flink

Tracey:
It’s got to feel great for the qualifier Vavara Flink to have secured a first round win. It was a dominant performance for the Russian. But, Julia Goerges is a much tougher opponent. The #18 seed served exceptionally well in her opener. I expect this to be a contentious match, but the German will come through.
Prediction: Goerges in 3

David:
Julia Goerges will be looking to back up her best result at a Major ever, when she made the semifinals here last year. Varvara Flink did well to qualify here, including a great win over Elena Rybakina in the final round of qualifying. Goerges clearly enjoys playing on the grass of Wimbledon, and while Flink has done well to reach the second round, Georges will be the one moving on.
Prediction: Goerges in 2

Yesh:
Goerges looks in good form, while Flink is just finding her feet on the tour. Expect an easy win for the German.
Prediction: Goerges in 2

Embed from Getty Images

Kristina Mladenovic vs Petra Kvitova

Tracey:
I’d like Kristina Mladenovic’s chances against anyone other than Petra Kvitova. The Czech simply owns the head to head. And, the #6 seed will be extending that lead to 8-1 on Thursday. Though, I do like Mladenovic for the doubles title.
Prediction: Kvitova in 2

David
Petra Kvitova is looking for her third Wimbledon title, while Kristina Mladenovic is trying for her first round of 16 appearance at Wimbledon. Kvitova played very well in her comeback from injury, comfortably beating Ons Jabeur in the first round. Kvitova has dominated the head to head 6-1 because she can usually just overwhelm Mladenovic with her power. This match will be no different than the six in a row that she has won over Mladenovic. Kvitova wins.
Prediction: Kvitova in 2

Yesh:
Mladenovic looks solid, though she struggled a bit in her opening match. Kvitova, though, is just in blistering form. She’s healthy and very strong on the grass. She just dismantled Ons Jabeur, who was having a good grass season herself.
Prediction: Kvitova in 2

Embed from Getty Images

Serena Williams vs Kaja Juvan

Tracey:
Kaja Juvan has her maiden victory in the Wimbledon main draw. The 18-year-old Slovenian played with great composure eliminating a tough player, Kristyna Pliskova. Juvan is definitely another one of the teens we’ll see a lot – a future star. Serena Williams’ return to grass was a straight sets win. Probably one of the best ever grass court player, Serena will be sticking around for a while. I’m sure the unforced errors will be brought under control. And, when things get tough, the American superstar will simply pull out that killer first serve.
Williams in 2

David:
Serena Williams has won this title seven times in singles and six times in doubles, while this is Kaja Juvan’s first time playing at Wimbledon, besides Juniors. Juvan is only 18 years old and is steadily rising up the rankings. But, it won’t be enough against the powerful serve and huge groundstrokes flying off of Serena’s racquet. Serena wins.
Williams in 2

Yesh:
Serena started out her opening match very strong, though she met some resistance towards the end of the match. Expect a similar patter here. The 23-time Grand Slam champion will overwhelm her opponent early. And while the second set will be more competitive, it will still be an easy win.
Williams in 2

Main Photo:
Embed from Getty Images

The second round of Wimbledon wraps up on Thursday.
