Predicting on Day 4 are myself (Yesh Ginsburg), Tracey Essex, and Jim Smith.

Wimbledon Day 4 Women’s Predictions

Ashleigh Barty vs Alison Van Uytvanck

Tracey:
The World #1 truly looks unstoppable. With well-honed net play, an ever improving serve and a backhand slice that lands a devastating blow, there’s little left for Ashleigh Barty to improve. This should be a quick and easy outing for the Aussie.
Prediction: Barty in 2

Jim:
Van Uytvanck is no stranger to an upset after stunning defending champion Garbine Muguruza at this stage last season. Were she to beat new World #1 Barty it would surely be an even more seismic shock. But the Australian has ascended to the rankings penthouse for a reason, and her game suits the grass perfectly. Don’t expect her to encounter too many problems.
Prediction: Barty in 2

Yesh:
Ashleigh Barty is the best player in the world right now. And I’m not sure anyone else is particularly close. Her confidence is at its peak and her game is dominant. Van Uytvanck can sometimes cause an upset or two, but not against this Barty.
Prediction: Barty in 2

Embed from Getty Images

Johanna Konta vs Katerina Siniakova

Tracey:
You sure can’t pick against an in-form Johanna Konta – especially on home soil. The Brit is upping her game as opponents up their level, strategically staying a step ahead. Konta easily moved up in the court ending points at net in her first round. I expect she’ll employ that strategy against the elite doubles player, Katerina Siniakova.
Prediction: Konta in 2

Jim:
The pressure of playing at Wimbledon is surely never easy for the British #1, particularly when expectations are as high as they are this year. But Konta has reached the semifinals in SW19 before and has all the tools to do so again. Siniakova has the game to make things difficult for Konta, but ultimately the Briton should prove too strong.
Prediction: Konta in 3

Yesh:
Konta looks very strong right now, and has always taken well to the grass. She’s in great form, coming off a great clay season, and looks comfortable like she did a few years ago. Expect an easy win for the Brit.
Prediction: Konta in 2

Embed from Getty Images

Laura Siegemund vs Barbora Strycova

Tracey:
Here’s a match between two feisty, competitive players. Both Siegemund and Strycova easily came through their first round contests. This match will be determined by who’s best on their return of serve. I give the slightest edge to Strycova in that regard.
Prediction: Strycova in 3

Jim:
Strycova is a joy to watch on a grass court, with the Czech’s combination of aggressive hitting from the baseline and soft touch in the forecourt so often a winning combination. Expect it to be so again up against the German Siegemund.
Prediction: Strycova in 2

Yesh:
This should be a very tight match between two good players both playing well right now. This could go either way, but I feel like the grass suits Strycova just a shade more. Either way, expect a close one, with the winner most likely determined by who can dig out the pressure moments a drop better.
Prediction: Strycova in 3

Embed from Getty Images

Amanda Anisimova vs Magda Linette

Tracey:
It looks like Amanda Anisimova has found her footing on grass. With not much experience on the surface, the American teenager seems to be holding her own. Anisimova has a game well suited to grass. I think Magda Linette will make her work for the win, but the rising teen tennis phenom will move on to the third round.
Prediction: Anisimova in 3

Jim:
Watching Anisimova adapt to the twin challenges of grass-court tennis and her newfound fame has been one of the most interesting stories of the grass-court swing. So far the signs have been positive and the American looks primed to enjoy a good Wimbledon. Linette is not without quality, but Anisimova will surely be able to hit through the Pole.
Prediction: Anisimova in 2

Yesh:
Anisimova looks to have made her transition to grass with relative ease. The American (rarely enough) has noted that clay is her favorite surface, though you wouldn’t guess that by watching her play. Expect her to move through this match easily and put some concern into those around her in the draw.
Prediction: Anisimova in 2

Main Photo:
Embed from Getty Images

On Day 4, we will wrap up the second round of Wimbledon.
