He did beat the Frenchman in Monaco this year, but that was on clay. Neither one of these players are at their best right now, and both can serve well on occasion. Still, I think that Chardy is just a bit more comfortable on grass, though Kukushkin is probably a hair better overall right now. This match will be tight, and will likely come down to whoever digs deeper in the crucial points.
Prediction: Chardy in 3

Embed from Getty Images

Alex de Minaur vs Aljaz Bedene

Head-to-head: First meeting

Bedene is a journeyman who has been very slowly improving his level in recent years. The Slovenian (though once-Brit) has spent plenty of time in the Top 100 in recent seasons. That’s not much compared to rising star Alex de Minaur, who is only 20 years old but inside the Top 30 in the world. The young Australian likes the grass and has somewhat surprising power. He’s been a bit up-and-down this season, and only has a 2-6 record since March. Don’t be surprised to see Bedene get some crowd support, and possibly upset the out-of-sorts youngster.
Predection: Bedene in 3

Main Photo:
Embed from Getty Images

Day 2 at the Fever Tree Championships at Queen’s Club was a total rain-out.
