Ahn’s second-round opponent will be another surprise: 17-year-old World No. 438 Maria Camila Osorio Serrano. Who will advance on Day 3? Let’s find out.

WTA Bogota Day 3 Predictions

Maria Camila Osorio Serrano vs Kristie Ahn

Ahn’s victory over Ostapenko was incredible. Yes, the former French Open champion collapsed, but Ahn was right there to take advantage. Osorio Serrano did something similar in her first-round match on Day 1. She clearly wasn’t quite as good as Conny Perrin, but the Colombian teenager took full advantage of an opponent who was struggling with her own game. Perrin double-faulted and hit herself out of the tournament, and I’m looking for the local Osorio Serrano to make quite a run out of this. The teenager also has a full day’s rest, while Ahn had to fight Ostapenko into the night.
Prediction: Osorio Serrano in 2

Shelby Rogers vs Astra Sharma

The Australian Sharma won a National Championship as part of the Vanderbilt tennis team four years ago, and is finally making a decent transition to the pros. Rogers might be a more common name and more accomplished on tour, but watch out for Sharma. She is finally playing like a professional and could find herself deep in International-level tournaments for years to come.
Prediction: Sharma in 3

Embed from Getty Images

Ana Bogdan vs Sara Sorribes Tormo

For some reason I just can’t get excited about this matchup. It actually has some real potential, and Bogdan is much better on clay than people give her credit for. Still, it’s hard to pick against any Spaniard on clay, really.
Prediction: Sorribes Tormo in 3

Embed from Getty Images

Amanda Anisimova vs Varvara Lepchenko

Anisimova is clearly a future star, but she doesn’t yet seem to be comfortable on clay. She has more talent than Lepchenko–more than enough to make up for the age difference. What she doesn’t have, though, is enough experience on clay. It will be a minor upset, but the elder American will be better on the surface. At least for now.
Prediction: Lepchenko in 3

Main Photo:
Embed from Getty Images

Day 2 of the Copa Colsanitas in Bogota, Colombia saw an incredible comeback by Kristie Ahn over 2017 French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko.
