Taylor Fritz ran into a red-hot Alexander Zverev at Wimbledon a few weeks ago. Fritz had won several consecutive meetings against the German, but Zverev was simply too good. It was not a case of Fritz playing terribly. His opponent was simply excellent. We saw how much Zverev improved at Wimbledon following his win at Roland-Garros. This was not a case of Taylor Fritz failing so much as a story of his opponent succeeding. Nevertheless, Fritz was not able to reach his first Wimbledon final, which was a main goal for the American entering the tournament. Now it’s time for Fritz to regroup and see what he can do in the United States on hardcourts. His opponent, Zizou Bergs, lost to Arthur Fery in the third round of Wimbledon in five sets. No one knew at the time that Fery was about to surprise everyone by making the semifinals. That should make Bergs feel a little better. He lost to a player who had the best tournament of his career.<\/p>\n

You do not see many matches like this, in which both players have not played a live tour match in at least three whole months. It’s anyone’s guess as to what will happen on the court here.<\/p>\n
