Washington represents a significant opportunity for players to pick up points before Canada and position themselves better going into Cincinnati and the U.S. Open. One thing to watch in Washington every year is the weather. Intense heat and humidity can become a factor. You will want to follow the weather reports each day to consider your choices. The Canadian is still ranked in the top 35, but she has lost seven of her last 10 matches and has failed to move upward into the top 20. She had a real chance to do that but did not take advantage. Fernandez will try to regroup in Washington against veteran Magda Linette. Both players have played very little tennis in July. Fernandez hasn’t played since Wimbledon. Linette has played only one match since Wimbledon. They both chose not to play on clay and are focused on the summer hardcourt season.

Best Bet to Make

Since both players have played very little tennis over the past four weeks, it’s not that easy to identify which player is in a better position to win this match. Fernandez is the clear betting-market favorite, but her level of performance certainly doesn’t warrant that level of respect. You could very reasonably go with Linette plus 1.5 sets, but our recommended standalone wager is over 2.5 sets, since this match feels up in the air.

That being said, betting on over 2.5 sets is a value bet for sure.

Value bet/ the best odds: over 2.5 sets at 2.45 @10Bet

Emma Navarro – Sofia Kenin: 12:30 EST

H2H: 0-1

The WTA Washington event begins with an all-American battle between Emma Navarro and Sofia Kenin. Navarro struggled for much of the 2026 season but began winning more in late May. She had a good grass season in June and now comes to the North American hardcourt season with a lot more confidence than she had a few months ago. Navarro is 7-3 in her last 10 matches. She has shown signs of being able to turn around her season. Kenin, on the other hand, is 2-8 in her last 10 matches. She is just not the same player she was several years ago, when she was competing for big titles.

Best Bet to Make

This match is not a complicated one to bet on. Emma Navarro is a much better player than Sofia Kenin. She is in much better form at the present moment. Kenin is a player tennis bettors have learned to fade, and those bets have usually cashed in 2026. Navarro winning in straight sets makes sense.

That being said, betting on Navarro winning 2:0 is a value bet for sure.

Value bet/ the best odds: Navarro winning 2:0 at 1.93 @Unibet

Liudmila Samsonova – Madison Keys: 18:00 EST

H2H: 1-5

Liudmila Samsonova and Madison Keys are both big servers and big hitters. They play one way. They hit the ball hard. Keys has been better than Samsonova in recent times, winning five of her last six matches, whereas Samsonova went 3-3 in her last six. Those matches were on grass, however. Now the two players meet on a hardcourt surface as WTA Washington begins its full week of tennis. Will the change in surface do anything positive for Samsonova, who is the heavy betting-market underdog in this match?

Best Bet to Make

The lopsided head-to-head numbers are really hard to ignore here. Taking Keys 2:0 is my recommended play.
