Golubic relies on variety more than outright power, mixing slices with clever changes of direction to disrupt opponents\u2019 rhythm. When everything clicks, the Swiss can make life uncomfortable for aggressive baseliners. However, quicker hard courts have not always been her strongest surface, particularly against players willing to stay patient through long exchanges.<\/span><\/p>\n

Their previous meetings have been evenly split, with Volynets winning on clay at the French Open and Golubic prevailing in a hard-court final at Suzhou last season. Given Volynets\u2019 recent consistency, greater comfort on North American hard courts and the support of home conditions, she looks slightly better placed to begin her Memphis campaign with a win.<\/span><\/p>\n
