The Frenchman has stormed through the field, looking stronger and stronger as the week has gone on. He very easily disposed of Yannick Hanfmann in the semifinals on Friday. Despite being ranked close to 30 spots lower than Hanfmann, Halys looked like the better player the whole time. Now he takes aim at the top seed with a trophy on the line. Very clearly, Bublik enjoys playing at this tournament. He won it all last year and is back in the final this year. He hasn’t played cupcake opponents, either. He beat No. 4 seed Tomas Martin Etcheverry in the semifinals and did so cleanly, in straight sets. He is taking on good opponents and is shoving them out of the way. He had a tough half of the draw and has made that point irrelevant. He has lifted his ranking to No. 11 and can move even closer to the top 10 with a victory in Austria.

Quentin Halys beat Valentin Vacherot, a top-25 player, earlier in the week, but that result wasn’t a shocker given Vacherot’s return from injury and all the uncertainties attached to a player’s return from an injury-based layoff. Halys really opened some eyes when he beat Mariano Navone, a solid clay tennis player, earlier in the week. That got everyone’s attention. He didn’t stop there. He then beat an in-form Yannick Hanfmann in straight sets in Friday’s semifinals. Halys has had a very productive week, moving from the 80s up to World No. 65. He can move up several more spots in the ATP Tour rankings with a win here.

Best Bet to Make

Welcome to our best bet section. Given how good Bublik has looked, that’s a very reasonable way to approach this match. The problem is that Quentin Halys is locked in and playing extremely good tennis on the other side of the net. Betting on Bublik in straights feels like a trap, though if you’re convinced Bublik is going to steamroll, then by all means, that’s exactly the bet you should make. We do not feel confident about this match, much as we have not felt confident about this tournament. Post-Wimbledon clay is a very uncertain part of the tour year. It just doesn’t lend itself to the kinds of strong bets which inspire total assurance in a likely outcome. If we did have to bet, we would go with Bublik on the game spread. It offers more margin than winning in straight sets.

That being said, betting on Bublik -2.5 games is the best bet you can make.

Value bet/ the best odds: Bublik -2.5 games at 1.99 @1xbet

Main Photo Credit: Matthew Stockman-Getty Images

The ATP Kitzbuhel tournament concludes with Saturday’s final.
