Andrey Rublev and Grigor Dimitrov, who received a wild card, will be among those competing at the ATP 250-level tournament. Although the entry list is very strong, it was weakened somewhat by the withdrawal of four players. We here at LWOT also covered the five withdrawals from the 2026 Swiss Open Gstaad.

Four Players Withdraw From 2026 Swedish Open Bastad

Which Players Have Withdrawn?

Roberto Bautista Agut was the first player to withdraw from the Swedish Open Bastad. The 38-year-old competed at the 2026 Wimbledon Championships, losing in the opening round to Joao Fonseca. Bautista Agut, known for being a semifinalist at SW19, announced in April that 2026 would be his final year as a professional player. Therefore, the decision not to compete in Sweden might be to ensure he remains fit for the most important events in his farewell.

Alexei Popyrin was the second man to withdraw from the Swedish Open Bastad. He fell to Jiri Lehecka in the opening round of Wimbledon a few weeks ago. Popyrin has fond memories from the post-Wimbledon clay-court swing, when he overcame Stan Wawrinka in the 2023 Croatian Opan Umag. That will be Wawrinka’s last professional final unless he reaches another before retiring at the end of this season.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOBkdOsXlww" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 4035px; aspect-ratio: 4035/2690;" ></smartframe-embed>

Hungarian veteran Marton Fucsovics will also be absent. The 34-year-old had a solid run at Wimbledon, reaching the third-round before being eliminated by Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. Fucsovics does not have any confirmed injury issue, and might just be getting some additional physical and mental rest after performing well in London.

Patrick Kypson, who reached a career-high ranking earlier this season in May of No. 89, was the other withdrawal.

Who Replaced Those Players on the Entry List?

Facundo Diaz Acosta received an entry list spot due to Bautista Agut’s decision not to play at the Swedish Open Bastad. The Argentine is a clay-court specialist, with all 14 of his Challenger Tour finals coming on the dirt. This included beating Marco Cecchinato in Aspria, Italy, earlier this month after a thrilling final. Nicolai Budkov Kjaer, a 19-year-old who has made terrific progress in 2026, replaced Alexei Popyrin.

Nikoloz Basilashvili, who took Fucsovics’ place, is now 34 years old. Although past his prime and someone who has been inconsistent throughout much of his career, the Georgian remains someone capable of producing great tennis. That includes on clay, where he can wind up his powerful groundstrokes. Sebastian Ofner was the final player to enter the Swedish Open Bastad entry list. The Austrian’s best run at a Grand Slam was the 2023 French Open, reaching the fourth round. That shows his ability on clay.

Main Photo Credit: David Kirouac-USA TODAY Sports

The 2026 Swedish Open Bastad got underway on Monday.
