With a place in the second week on the line, it should be an entertaining day of tennis and, as ever, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for all eight matches on day six, including Amanda Anisimova vs Madison Keys. But who will advance?

Wimbledon Day 6 Predictions

Iga Swiatek vs Alexandra Eala

Zain: After a tough opening match, Iga Swiatek looked very much like the defending champion in her second-round victory. Next, against Alexandra Eala, the Pole will need to be dialed in from the start, as Eala has shown she plays her best tennis on this surface. But while that is likely to trouble Swiatek somewhat, her baseline consistency should still be enough to get the win here.

Prediction: Swiatek in 2

Jordan: How Swiatek serves will be crucial to Eala’s chances. The Filipina has one of the WTA Tour’s best returns, and the defending champion’s serve is often attackable. I expect this to be competitive, but for Swiatek to prevail over theee sets.

Prediction: Swiatek in 3

Tope: Swiatek looked every bit the defending champion in dismantling Karolina Pliskova but Eala is no ordinary third-round test. The Filipina has already proven she can trouble the Pole on any surface so expect a genuine battle with plenty of twists, and don’t be shocked if it stretches to three sets.

Prediction: Eala in 3

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="3ec16c2e89be0acadd2b088db7a33eb9" image-id="imbrnz9fIvk6" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 5315px; aspect-ratio: 5315/3797;" ></smartframe-embed>

Liudmila Samsonova vs Marie Bouzkova

Zain: This match pits the attacking power of Liudmila Samsonova against the defensive capabilities of Marie Bouzkova. Like many of her matches, this will also come down to whether Samsonova can manage her error count. And while she can go through stretches of invincible aggressive play, I’m leaning towards the defensive player here.

Prediction: Bouzkova in 3

Jordan: There is a nice clash of styles for fans to enjoy here. One of the hardest hitting women in the game versus one of the grittiest. On grass, I like Bouzkova’s chances of using her opponent’s pace effectively to win.

Prediction: Bouzkova in 2

Tope: Bouzkova rides a seven-match win streak into this one, looking every bit the sharper, hungrier player on grass right now. Samsonova holds the head-to-head edge at 3-2 and has thrived in decisive sets before, but her shaky grass form and sliding ranking tell a different story this time. Expect Bouzkova’s momentum to outweigh the history but Samsonova’s clutch gene makes a decider anything but a formality.

Prediction: Bouzkova in 3

Sorana Cirstea vs Linda Noskova

Zain: In her last season on tour, Sorana Cirstea has played some of her best tennis. This match against Linda Noskova will likely be decided by which player can dictate play and take the initiative from the baseline. While Cirstea is quite capable of doing that, Noskova’s aggressive flat groundstrokes should give her the advantage.

Prediction: Noskova in 3

Jordan: Most of the rallies in this matchup will almost certainly be short. Cirstea has been inspired in her farewell season, and has been particularly good against fellow powerful hitters. I think that trend will continue here at Wimbledon.

Prediction: Cirstea in 2

Tope: Noskova’s grass-court game gives her the edge to finally flip this rivalry even though Cirstea leads the head-to-head but has never beaten her on turf. The Berlin champion had to battle past Camila Osorio last time out, yet her raw firepower suits these courts far better than Cirstea’s. Expect the Czech ninth seed to take control and set the record straight in meeting number six.

Prediction: Noskova in 3

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="a61405551f80e72f675225f083759bb9" image-id="fwuQ21hs1bOZ" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 6000px; aspect-ratio: 6000/4000;" ></smartframe-embed>

Marta Kostyuk vs Emma Navarro

Zain: Historically her worst surface by far, Marta Kostyuk has shown a good level so far at Wimbledon this year. Against Emma Navarro, this is a match likely to be decided from the baseline. The American has shown she can play well on grass, and if she maintains a similar level, she should make the second week here.

Prediction: Navarro in 3

Jordan: These two have somewhat similar playing styles. However, Navarro possesses slightly more variety, which is why she is a better grass-court player. I expect that to make the difference at Wimbledon.

Prediction: Navarro in 2

Tope: Navarro owns this rivalry, including two straight-set grass wins last year and she’ll be gunning to keep that streak alive. Kostyuk arrives in red-hot form off a Roland Garros semi run, but grass is uncharted territory for her, just her third match on the surface. Form says Kostyuk, history says Navarro and on grass, with this head-to-head, that psychological edge could tip the scales.

Prediction: Navarro in 2

Main photo credit: Susan Mullane-USA TODAY Sports

The field has been thinned considerably at Wimbledon as we approach the end of the first week at the Championships.
