The top players advanced out of the first round, setting the stage for a second round featuring all the familiar big names. This second round might show what kind of path this event will take. Are we going to get stability and dependability, or will we see the kind of chaos that emerged in Paris four weeks ago? She is a decent grass tennis player, so maybe she can join the list of players to take Ostapenko to a third set.

Best Bet to Make

The set spread bet with Ostapenko is something we can’t keep relying on, because we have been burned too many times by it. We are tempted to go with over 2.5 sets here, because this match could easily go three sets. Ruzic plays well on grass, and it would not be shocking to see her push Ostapenko to the limit. However, we’re not going to go there because Ruzic won’t have the home crowd support Harriet Dart (a British player) had in the WTA Wimbledon first round. Ostapenko will be in a friendlier, more neutral environment, and that might enable her to win in straight sets. We are caught in a bind there, so we will instead go with the game spread, believing this match will be reasonably close. Ruzic plus 5.5 games has a reasonable price. Ostapenko could win in straight sets, but a 6-4, 6-3 score would still cash a ticket for Ruzic.

That being said, betting on Ruzic +5.5 games is a value bet for sure.

Value bet/ the best odds: Ruzic +5.5 games @1.63 @bet-at-home

Somnez – Liu: Time 7:30 EST

H2H: 0-0

Zeynep Sonmez scored a hard-earned WTA Wimbledon victory over Ann Li, a top-35 player, in the first round. It was a tough three-set match, but Sonmez came through. She has a workable section of the draw at the All-England Club and could realistically make the Round of 16. Standing in her way in the second round is Claire Liu, who earned a three-set win of her own in the first round against Hanne Vandewinkel. Ann Li is a much higher-ranked player than Hanne Vandewinkel. That, plus the fact that Sonmez is ranked much higher (nearly 100 spots) than Liu, makes Sonmez the appropriate betting favorite in this match. However, Sonmez has been known to play to the level of her competition, and she has to avoid that tendency in this match.

Best Bet to Make

Sonmez can get nervous and allow inferior opponents to hang around. However, after a tough three-set win in the first round, she gets a day off (as all players do at major tournaments) to rest and regroup. Sonmez is a clearly better player than Liu, and she played a tougher opponent in the first round as well. You can put Sonmez moneyline at 1.51 into a parlay, but for the standalone bet, we feel confident that the talent gap is large enough to merit a play on Sonmez winning in straight sets.

That being said, betting on Sonmez winning 2:0 is a value bet for sure.

Value bet/ the best odds: Sonmez winning 2:0 @2.20 @betway

Yastremska – Bouzas Maneiro: Time 8:00 EST

H2H: 1-2

Dayana Yastremska was down a break in the third set of her WTA Wimbledon first-round match against Aoi Ito. Yastremska is a power player. She hits the ball hard. Ito is the opposite of a power player, someone who slices and chips the ball a lot to keep her opponent off balance. Yastremska clearly struggled with that approach, but when trailing in the third set, she was able to rally and get the win. Will that victory jump-start what has been a difficult 2026 season, or will she immediately lose steam against Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, who looked very strong in defeating Anastasia Potapova in straight sets in the first round?

Best Bet to Make

The solid form of Bouzas Maneiro versus Potapova was much higher and more consistent than what we saw from Yastremska against Ito. Bouzas Maneiro looks like the steadier player and someone who will make fewer errors. Yastremska is the more erratic player and someone who will probably go through more ups and downs and might not settle down when things don’t go her way. You could very realistically make the over 2.5 sets play here, but we think Bouzas Maneiro will win. Her moneyline price is very reasonable.

That being said, betting on Bouzas Maneiro winning is a value bet for sure.

Value bet/ the best odds: Bouzas Maneiro winning @1.83 @1xbet

Main Photo Credit: Angela Wilhelm-USA TODAY Sports

WTA Wimbledon second-round play begins on Wednesday.
