Things have gone from bad to worse for Jack Draper, as just at the start of Wimbledon<\/a> he has been forced to withdraw from the tournament due to a relapse of the left arm injury that kept him out of competition for much of the second half of last season.<\/p>\n

The Brit, who just last week in Eastbourne made his comeback after playing only one match since the Miami Open, has suffered yet another physical setback at one of the worst possible times.<\/p>\n

Jack Draper Withdraws from Wimbledon<\/h2>\n

Ranked World No. 4 last year after winning the Indian Wells title and reaching the final of the Madrid Masters, Draper looked set to establish himself as one of the players capable of challenging the Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner duopoly.<\/p>\n

But then, as has so often been the case throughout his career, physical issues once again disrupted his season, starting towards the end of the clay swing. While he still competed at Wimbledon, suffering an early exit, he ultimately had to call time on his season in the middle of the US Open<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That decision was made partly in the hope that he would be fully fit for the start of the 2026 season, but that did not prove to be the case, as he was forced to miss the opening couple of months of the year. When he eventually returned, he reached the quarterfinals at Indian Wells, defeating Novak Djokovic along the way.<\/p>\n

Injury Nightmare Continues<\/h3>\n

However, that match ultimately proved costly, as Draper developed a knee issue shortly afterwards that effectively ended his clay season, with the Brit playing just one more match, a first-round loss in Barcelona.<\/p>\n

Since then, Draper has done everything he could to be ready for the grass-court swing, even adding Andy Murray to his coaching team<\/a>. Unfortunately, things have not gone to plan, as he has now been forced to withdraw from Wimbledon<\/a> just one day before he was scheduled to face Taylor Fritz in the first round on Centre Court.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere have been a lot of painful moments in the last 12 months but this one is definitely the absolute worst as there is no greater honour for a British player than playing at Wimbledon. I will continue to persevere through this.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

It has been a brutal 18 hours for British tennis. Before Draper\u2019s withdrawal, it was announced that Emma Raducanu would also miss this year\u2019s Championships<\/a> due to a lower leg stress fracture.<\/p>\n

For Draper, though, this setback could prove even more devastating. If this is indeed a relapse of the injury that sidelined him for almost six months last year, it is a difficult pill to swallow. The Brit is now expected to spend another lengthy spell on the sidelines, having already dropped well outside the top 100 in the rankings because of the succession of physical issues he has endured over the past year.<\/p>\n
