Solana Sierra, meanwhile, arrives in form and full of belief with a decent outing at the French Open. She has shown grass holds no fear for her, reaching the Wimbledon round of 16 last summer. The momentum, the results, and the surface all point in her direction.<\/p>\n

Nikola Bartunkova vs Hanne Vandewinkel<\/h4>\n

Nikola Bartunkova arrives at Hertogenbosch with grass-court form that is hard to ignore. Four straight wins in Birmingham had her within touching distance of a title before Alexandra Eala edged her out in three sets, a defeat that stings but says as much about her level as it does about the loss. Now hovering just outside the top #60, Bartunkova is a player trending in the right direction.<\/p>\n

Hanne Vandewinkel is not here to make up the numbers, though. The 22-year-old Belgian has quietly built one of the more compelling stories on tour this year with three ITF titles, a top-100 debut in April, and now a main-draw spot earned through qualifying. She carries fresh legs and real belief into this first-round meeting. Bartunkova is the higher-ranked player and the form pick, but Vandewinkel has the kind of momentum that makes rankings look like suggestions. Expect a proper contest, but the more experienced player should win this one.<\/p>\n

The Belgian dispatched Viktoriya Tomova and Ella Seidel to earn her spot, and while her Birmingham run last week ended early, grass is a surface she knows how to win on, and her 2024 title there is proof of that.<\/p>\n

Standing in her way is Janice Tjen, whose 2025 season has been a grind and not a single run past the third round. Tjen showed little in Birmingham either, and Minnen, despite her modest ranking, has the grass-court pedigree to exploit those vulnerabilities. Expect the Belgian qualifier to make life uncomfortable for Tjen from the first ball.<\/p>\n

Emma Navarro vs Caty McNally<\/h4>\n

Emma Navarro arrives<\/a> at the WTA Den Bosch carrying fresh momentum and a point to prove after her Strasbourg title last month, which elevated her to the kind of form-finding breakthrough a struggling season desperately needed. A Wimbledon quarter-finalist in 2024, Navarro looks well-suited to the grass, and there’s every reason to believe the best of her is finally resurfacing at the right time.<\/p>\n

Caty McNally, however, is no soft opener, and she’ll bring that fighting edge to the net. Navarro leads their head-to-head, but grass is uncharted territory between them, and on this surface, rankings and records only tell half the story. Expect a competitive first round, with Navarro the favourite but far from guaranteed a smooth passage.<\/p>\n
