The weather in Paris is still hot, and it remains a big story until the weather cools off this coming weekend. This tournament has become a matter of physical survival as much as playing smart tennis. Elena Rybakina very clearly struggled in the heat. She rallied briefly when shadows provided some shade cover, but she still couldn’t get through her second-round match. The third round is probably going to be the final round before the weather finally becomes milder. Players who get through this round will have a real chance to make a deep run in Paris. LWOS has our best bets for three matches on Thursday. Wang advanced when her opponent, Hailey Baptiste, suffered a horrible injury late in the first set. The match was very close at the time, so while Wang did play a good first set, it was very much unclear if she was going to actually win the match. Starodubtseva pulled off the biggest upset of the women’s tournament (so far) by beating No. 2 seed Elena Rybakina in three sets. Starodubtseva lost the first set and then stormed back to take a 4-1 lead in the third set. She lost the lead, falling behind 5-4, but was able to get into a match tiebreaker and win it. It’s the biggest win of her career. Now, can she build on it?

Best Bet to Make

This is a match where bettors can make multiple bets and possibly make a large stack of money. Let’s just talk prices for a moment. Starodubtseva moneyline and Wang +1.5 sets are both priced at 1.60. You could therefore make each of those bets separately and have a chance to cash both of them. It’s not an easy match to call because Wang is physically fresher due to not having played a full-length match. Starodubtseva could be physically drained after the big win over Rybakina, but she is in better form and did have one day off to rest. You could also use the over 2.5 set bet if you think neither player will take full control of the match, which seems like a real possibility. It’s a match where you should make two bets. Starodubtseva moneyline should be one. Given that over 2.5 sets means Wang wins at least one set, you might as well bet on the over 2.5 sets instead of Wang +1.5 sets, since you’re getting much better value. Our final recommendation for the best bet in this match: over 2.5 sets.

That being said, betting on over 2.5 sets is a value bet for sure.

Value bet/ the best odds: over 2.5 sets @2.45 @betsson

Marta Kostyuk vs Viktorija Golubic: Time 5:00 EST

H2H: 2–0

Marta Kostyuk faces Viktorija Golubic. Kostyuk has won 13 clay matches in a row after getting by Katie Volynets in a tough three-set match in the second round. Kostyuk had to battle in the heat, but she pulled through and continued her excellent spring clay season in 2026. She gets a day off to rest and will try to be sharper in the third round against Viktorija Golubic, who won her second-round match in straight sets over Alycia Parks.

Best Bet to Make

The price for Kostyuk winning in straight sets isn’t very good, so this is a game spread bet. The most evenly-priced spread is 6.5 games. It is juiced to Golubic, and we’re going to take it. Kostyuk moneyline can be folded into a parlay, but a single bet should lean to Golubic, primarily because she is in good form this week, but also because Kostyuk had to play a tough three-set match against Volynets and might be slightly drained, enough for Golubic to keep the match moderately close. With a 6.5-game spread, the losing player could lose 6-3, 6-3 or 6-4, 6-2 and still cover. Is Kostyuk playing well enough to win with a more dominant scoreline? We don’t think so.

That being said, betting on Golubic +6.5 games is a value bet for sure.

Value bet/ the best odds: Golubic +6.5 games @2.02 @unibet

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOBZRkLCQuj" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 5000px; aspect-ratio: 5000/3335;" ></smartframe-embed>

Magda Linette vs Iga Swiatek: Time 6:00 EST

H2H: 1–1

Magda Linette faces Iga Swiatek in a battle of Polish tennis players. Poland is therefore guaranteed to have at least one woman in the Round of 16 on Sunday. Swiatek has to love the fact that she is playing Linette, because Linette took out Swiatek’s nemesis, Jelena Ostapenko. Ostapenko has never lost to Swiatek, but Linette made sure the Latvian did not face Iga this time around. Linette did beat Swiatek in Miami earlier this year, but that was on hardcourt, not clay, and Swiatek was playing a lot worse back then. She looks much improved now, but not without some flaws, chiefly her serve.

Best Bet to Make

The price for a Swiatek 2:0 win is very low, so it’s not even worth betting on that. You need to go to the game spread. The evenly-priced spreads are 6.5 games (juiced to Linette) and 7.5 games (juiced to Swiatek). You could simply bet Swiatek minus 6.5 games and Linette plus 7.5 and see if you can hit the middle (seven-game spread). If we had to lean to one side, it’s Swiatek minus 6.5 because she got broken four times in the win over Sara Bejlek in the second round. It’s going to be hard for Swiatek to serve that poorly in a second consecutive match. She is bound to be better, and her return game looks really good.

That being said, betting on Swiatek -6.5 games is a value bet for sure.

Value bet/ the best odds: Swiatek -6.5 games @1.62 @bet365

Main Photo Credit: Susan Mullane-USA TODAY Sports

WTA French Open tennis moves into the third round on Friday.
