This will be the first meeting between the two Europeans. Siniakova is .500 entering the WTA French Open. She’s also .500 on clay and on hardcourt. Waltert is 11-6 on clay this year, but just 6-9 on hardcourt. Neither lady has won a tournament, but Waltert made the quarterfinals in Oeiras while Siniakova hasn’t been past the round of 16 in any tournament this year. That said, Waltert is definitely playing better on clay, and she’s been consistent leading into the Major.

Best Bet to Make

The books see this match a bit differently than I do. Most books have Siniakova as a 1.45-2.8 favorite, on average. At the minimum, I think Waltert has proven she should be taken seriously on clay. There are so many certainties in the first round of the French Open, but this is one of those matches where you can take a cheap flier and potentially come away with a damn solid return, depending on your idea of a “cheap flier.” I say take the risk on Waltert straight up at 2.97 on Pinnacle. It may even be up over 3 by the time the match starts.

That being said, betting on Waltert winning is a value bet for sure.

Value bet/ the best odds: Waltert winning @2.97 @Pinnacle

Birrell – Pegula: Time 10:30 EST

H2H: 0–1

Kimberly Birrell is just one of many women in the back half of the top-100 in the World who have drawn a top-20 player in the first round. Unfortunately for Birrell, she’s also drawn one of the best in Jessica Pegula. This has not been Pegula’s tournament in the past. Pegula’s 2022 run to the quarterfinals here in Roland-Garros is the furthest she’s ever gone. It was also the only time she’s made the quarterfinals or beyond. Birrell is 0-3 on clay so far this year, and the French Open isn’t a tournament she plays often. This is only her fifth time playing at Roland-Garros overall.

Best Bet to Make

If Birrell manages to win this match, and someone bet on her doing so, they’re going to leave that match with an absurd return, as one book has Pegula as a 25.7-1 favorite. On average, most books are closer to 15-1 in favor of Pegula. You can’t even get a good return on a correct score bet. Pegula +7 games at 1.75 is the bet I like the most. Pegula is going to win, but she’s going to have to do much better than her 2025 performance in Cincinnati to make any kind of money for you.

That being said, betting on Pegula +7 games is a value bet for sure.

Value bet/ the best odds: Pegula +7 games @1.75 @10Bet

Mboko – Bartunkova: Time 10:30 EST

H2H: 0–0

Victoria Mboko will play Nikola Bartunkova in her first match at Roland-Garros this year. Mboko is 6-4 in her last ten matches, including another final loss for her in Strasbourg against Emma Navarro. That’s the third time she’s made a final this year and the third time she’s lost. Sure, this does represent a bit of a slide for her in terms of overall titles, but she’s still right there at the end, and that’s what matters. Bartunkova has a solid number of wins this year, but many of them are coming via qualifying, as she’s yet to make it past a quarterfinal. She’s still someone that needs to be taken seriously, and she could absolutely knock Mboko out.

Best Bet to Make

Mboko is the favorite in this match by a 2:1 ratio. I’m gonna keep it simple and suggest -5.5 games.
