The 2026 edition of Roland Garros goes into the second day of first-round competition. The first round started on Sunday and will end on Tuesday, as the field goes from 128 down to 64. There are so many matches and stories to keep track of. Which top seeds are in danger? Which floaters in the draw will begin to pick up momentum, which could flow into the rest of the tournament? These and other interesting questions will soon be answered. LWOS has our best bets for three matches on Monday. Post your best bets and thoughts in the comments.

WTA French Open

Liu – Uchijima: Time 5:00 EST

H2H: 0-0

Claire Liu faces Moyuka Uchijima. Liu is in very good form, having won eight straight matches and nine of 10. She won three French Open qualifying matches without losing a set. Uchijima won the WTA 125 Saint-Malo event but then lost three straight matches, including last week in Rabat. Uchijima did have a five-match winning streak, but then lost form. Can she get it back? Liu is ranked 72 spots lower (182 compared to 110), but she is the betting-market favorite because of her eight-match winning streak. This is a fascinating match.

Best Bet to Make

Do you trust Liu’s eight-match win streak or the fact that Uchijima is ranked 72 spots higher than Liu? It’s an interesting question. What seems to decide the matter for us is that Uchijima’s recent three-match losing streak has not been against elite players but ordinary ones. Uchijima’s three recent losses came to Alycia Parks, Kaja Juvan, and Rebeka Masarova, none of whom would be called top-level players on the tour. If Uchijima had lost to higher-caliber opposition, it would be a lot easier to trust her against Liu, but that’s not the case. Liu moneyline is the play.

That being said, betting on Liu winning is a value bet for sure.

Value bet/ the best odds: Liu winning @1.79 @1xBet

Korneeva – Cocciaretto: Time 5:00 EST

H2H: 0–0

Alina Korneeva faces Elisabetta Cocciaretto. Korneeva is 3-2 in her last five matches, the result of a three-match winning streak in French Open qualifying. She is ranked World No. 120. Cocciaretto is 2-3 in her last five matches. She suffered an injury in Rouen and lost there in the Round of 16. She lost early in Madrid. She came to Rome (and her home country of Italy) and won two matches to get to the third round, where she lost to Iga Swiatek. Cocciaretto is ranked World No. 40.

Best Bet to Make

Cocciaretto moneyline is priced just below the level where we would recommend a bet, so the moneyline isn’t good enough. Cocciaretto winning in straight sets, on the other hand, carries a very attractive price. We don’t think Korneeva has been consistent enough to represent an especially dangerous threat for Cocciaretto, so we think that Cocciaretto will be able to win this match relatively comfortably. You could go with a set spread or game spread bet. We usually prefer the set bet if the price is right.

That being said, betting on Cocciaretto winning 2:0 is a value bet for sure.

Value bet/ the best odds: Cocciaretto winning 2:0 @2.23 @Unibet

Galfi – Sherif: Time 5:00 EST

H2H: 1–3

Dalma Galfi faces Mayar Sherif. Galfi enters this match having not played since May 6. She went to Rome and got through the qualifying rounds, but she then lost to Anastasia Potapova. Sherif had lost four of six matches heading into French Open qualifying, but she bounced back and was able to earn three very tough wins, two of them in three sets. Sherif is ranked World No. 117, while Galfi is ranked No. 130. This appears, on paper, to be a very even match.

Best Bet to Make

The easy route would be to go for Galfi moneyline at 1.71, but Sherif’s momentum from going through qualifying could certainly become a factor in this match. Sherif might have a slight advantage, but it’s not a major one. When two players can’t easily be separated from each other, the best bet to make is over 2.5 sets, because the possibility of a third set is strong. Over 2.5 sets always has a great price because when one player wins the first set, that player will often finish the match in straight sets. The point of betting over 2.5 sets is admitting the match winner is not easy to call. Instead of picking one player to win, over 2.5 sets simply means the match will be close and long. We think this match will be close and long.

That being said, betting on over 2.5 sets is a value bet for sure.

Value bet/ the best odds: over 2.5 sets @2.40 @bet-at-home

Main Photo Credit: Tara Gray-USA TODAY Sports

The WTA French Open action continues on Monday.
