Unfortunately, some high-profile names announced their withdrawals from the prestigious tournament.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Seven Men’s Players Withdraw From 2026 French Open<\/h2>\n

Which Players Withdrew?<\/h4>\n

Carlos Alcaraz was the most high-profile man to withdraw from the French Open. Losing last year’s champion and a man with such an electrifying style is a significant blow to the event. The seven-time Major winner has not played since the opening round of the Barcelona Open because of a wrist injury. That severe issue has also ruled him out of Wimbledon<\/a>, providing his rivals with a significant opportunity to capitalise.<\/p>\n

Jack Draper was the second ATP player to withdraw from the French Open. The Briton played one match on clay in Barcelona, but has missed the rest of the swing because of a knee problem<\/a>. He plans to return for the grass-court season, but this cannot be guaranteed due to his persistent injuries since last year.<\/p>\n

Last year’s semifinalist in Paris, Lorenzo Musetti, will also be absent. He sustained a thigh issue during his defeat at the Italian Open<\/a> against Casper Ruud, discovering that reality after undergoing medical examinations. It is a devastating blow for Musetti, who is among the world’s best clay-court players at his best.<\/p>\n

Holger Rune remains sidelined by the severe Achilles injury<\/a> he suffered in October at the 2025 Stockholm Open. Most expected the 2022 Paris Masters champion to be out for the clay-court swing. Rune’s optimism about being fit to play on grass is positive and ahead of where many expected in his recovery.<\/p>\n

Arthur Fils was the latest men’s withdrawal from the French Open. The home favorite was set for a fascinating clash with Stan Wawrinka, who is retiring this season, but he announced he cannot play because of a hip injury<\/a> after the draw was made.<\/p>\n

Sebastian Korda and Arthur Cazaux were the other two withdrawals.<\/p>\n

Who Replaced Those Players in the Main Draw?<\/h4>\n

Stan Wawrinka was given a wild card for his final appearance at Roland Garros<\/a>. However, the Swiss legend no longer needed it when he replaced Musetti. Wawrinka is guaranteed to receive outstanding support from the crowd, which he deserves as a former champion and a man who has achieved so much. Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi will also undoubtedly get good backing from the fans. He took Rune’s place at the season’s second Grand Slam.<\/p>\n

Viewers at the French Open and watching worldwide will also have a chance to watch some young talent. Daniel Merida was given an opportunity due to Alcaraz’s decision to withdraw. The 21-year-old has never featured in a Grand Slam main draw, but will get an opportunity to build on reaching the Madrid Open third round. Coleman Wong is another 21-year-old set to make his maiden appearance in the French Open main draw, replacing Korda.<\/p>\n

Matteo Arnaldi, Rinky Hijikata, and Jesper de Jong were the other players to enter the main draw.<\/p>\n
