It will certainly be a great week of tennis in Hamburg, with day two of the tournament sure to deliver plenty of high quality tennis.

ATP Hamburg Day 2 Predictions

Terence Atmane vs Tomas Martín Etcheverry

Head-to-head: Etcheverry 1-0 Atmane

While Atmane would have a great chance to win this matchup on a faster surface, Etcheverry won when the pair faced earlier this year in Monte Carlo, and on clay he should once again have the edge. He’s a Top 30 player mostly because of his clay results and even a former Roland Garros quarterfinalist. On this surface, Atmane is unlikely to be able to beat him.

Prediction: Etcheverry in 2

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina vs Corentin Moutet

Head-to-head: Davidovich Fokina 3-0 Moutet

After a fantastic 2025 (despite not winning a title), Davidovich Fokina has been having a disappointing 2026 so far, but that would instantly change if he could somehow win his first career title somewhere. Given the field and the circumstances, this is about as good a chance as any he might have throughout the year and he starts his campaign against an opponent he has already beaten three times and has never lost a set to, and who isn’t at his best on a clay court.
Prediction: Davidovich Fokina in 2

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOBjtF2RwqL" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 4647px; aspect-ratio: 4647/3098;" ></smartframe-embed>

Daniel Altmaier vs Rinky Hijikata

Head-to-head: Hijikata 1-0 Altmaier

Hijikata would arguably be the favorite if this matchup happened on a hard court, but on clay Altmaier is generally the better and more comfortable player of the tw and he is playing at home to boot. All things considered, the German should be able to prevail here.
Prediction: Altmaier in 2

Marcos Giron vs Ben Shelton

Head-to-head: Shelton 1-1 Giron

Shelton might have won the title in Munich, but he followed it up with losses in his first match in both Madrid and Rome, after already having lost early in Indian Wells and Miami. He has clearly been struggling for form and consistency so far this season, but he tends to find his best tennis for the Slams and this week is a great opportunity to prepare to do so again.
Prediction: Shelton in 3

Main Photo Main Photo Credit: Andy Abeyta/The Desert Sun / USA TODAY NETWORK

The ATP 500 event in Hamburg isn’t exactly ideally placed in the calendar, with Roland Garros starting next week, but it still features a very good field, with many players looking to fine tune their game ahead of the second Slam of the season–or even seize a rare opportunity to win a significant title.
