The WTA world is fluid right now. Sorana Mihaela-Cirstea continues playing the best tennis of her career and now finds herself in the semifinals against Coco Gauff. Gauff, once again, did not play her best, but she still found a way to come out with the victory in a three-set war against Mirra Andreeva. LWOS has our best bets for the last two quarterfinal matches on Wednesday. Pegula has two titles to her name, and she’s reached at least the quarterfinals in seven of her eight tournaments. The only tournament where she didn’t at least make the quarterfinals was WTA Madrid, and that was after winning the tournament at WTA Charleston, playing fourteen of a possible fifteen sets in total. Swiatek has won this very tournament three different times, with the last coming in 2024. Despite all that, Swiatek hasn’t won a single tournament this year.

Best Bet to Make

I find the odds on this match extremely interesting. Going back to 2023, Pegula has won four of her six matches against Swiatek. They’ve also played three different finals during this time, and both of Swiatek’s wins were in a final, but Pegula their WTA Final final and lost only a single game in the entire match. Swiatek has the win in their only clay match thus far, but that was the 2022 French Open quarterfinals. Pegula is 9-1 on clay this year, while Swiatek is just 5-2 in her clay matches. Pegula is also 9-1 in her last ten, but Swiatek is just 6-4 in hers. I like Pegula as an upset here.

That being said, betting on Pegula winning is a value bet for sure.

Value bet/ the best odds: Pegula winning @3.32 @Pinnacle

Svitolina – Rybakina: Time 13:00 EST

H2H: 3-4

This is another really interesting match. Elina Svitolina has two different titles here in Rome, winning in back-to-back years in 2017-18. Elena Rybakina won here in 2023 and is the highest remaining seed left in the tournament. Just like our previous match, this match also features a competitor 5-2 on clay against a competitor 9-1 on the same surface. Svitolina has a title in 2026 from Auckland, but Rybakina has two, and one of them was on clay. The other was the Australian Open.

Best Bet to Make

Just like our last match, this also features about 3-1 odds on average. Rybakina is a solid favorite, but this has always been a fairly close rivalry. That said, unlike our other match, this match doesn’t feature the underdog with the better form and only one loss on clay. Rybakina is 9-1 on clay in her last ten matches. Svitolina is 7-3, and her losses were to solid opponents, but not people that she should be losing to in the grand scheme of things. Only two of their matches have ever gone to a third set, and I don’t think this match will.

That being said, betting on Rybakina winning is a value bet for sure.

Value bet/ the best odds: Rybakina winning @2.1 @Bet365

Main Photo Credit: Mike Frey-USA TODAY Sports

The WTA Rome tournament quarterfinals finish-up on Wednesday.
