It was only his fourth Tour-level win of the season and first on clay. Brandon Nakashima struggles on clay, but he has the firepower to beat this version of the Spaniard. Bautista Agut has beaten Nakashima on clay before, but I am not sure whether he can play at a high level for a full match on clay.
Prediction: Nakashima in 3

Jakub Mensik vs Alexei Popyrin

Head-to-Head: Mensik 3-0 Popyrin

Jakub Mensik looked good in Madrid and played a very competitive match against Alexander Zverev. He will be aiming to get some more match wins here and peak at the French Open. Alexei Popyrin will be a stern test, and it will take a good performance from Mensik to see this through, but I believe he will be up to the task.
Prediction: Mensik in 2

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOBsabCyGaD" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 8405px; aspect-ratio: 8405/5603;" ></smartframe-embed>

Andrey Rublev vs Miomir Kecmanovic

Head-to-Head: Rublev 2-0 Kecmanovic

Andrey Rublev has been quite consistent this season, but some of his losses have been one-sided, which is never good. He doesn’t have a good track record here and has recently expressed his discontent with the courts. If Miomi Kecmanovic can start well, he can get some frustration out of Rublev, who can self-implode at times when things are not going his way. It won’t be easy, but I think the Serbian has a real shot here to upset Rublev.
Prediction: Kecmanovic in 3

Daniil Medvedev vs Tomas Machac

Head-to-Head: Medvedev 2-0 Machac

Even though he lost against Flavio Cobolli in Madrid, Medvedev played a good match, and the improvement from Monte Carlo was significant. The Rome Masters is his most successful clay tournament, and I expect him to be dialled in right from the start. Tomac Machac played a great match against Stefanos Tsitsipas in the first round and is a dangerous player when he is feeling it. However, Medvedev is a much better returner than Tsitsipas and will put pressure on Machac’s serve. I think the 2023 champion takes this in the deciding set.
Prediction: Medvedev in 3

Main Photo Credit: Susan Mullane-USA TODAY Sports

16 remaining second-round matches are scheduled on Day 4 of the ATP Rome Masters.
