The qualifying winners get into the Round of 96 and will try to make a push for rankings points just before the French Open. A lot of players are facing matches that will affect their ability to qualify for important tournaments later this year. It’s a very busy day with a packed order of play. It was a surprisingly lopsided result in favor of the underdog, who made a statement in her first match of this Rome event. Sherif will take on Tamara Korpatsch, who lost the first set against lower-ranked opponent Beatrice Ricci but then rebounded to win the last two sets convincingly and move into the second round of qualifying.

Best Bet to Make

This match seems clear-cut. Sherif played a much stronger match against a much higher-ranked opponent in the first round of qualifying compared to Korpatsch. Sherif dominated while Korpatsch survived, and the level of competition was noticeably different. The price for a Sherif moneyline win is reasonable, so don’t try to be clever. Just take Sherif to win.

That being said, betting on Sherif winning is a value bet for sure.

Value bet/ the best odds: Sherif winning @1.81 @Betsson

Kalinina – Volynets: Time 7:00 EST

H2H: 0-0

Anhelina Kalinina easily defeated Camila Osorio in the first round of Rome qualifying. Kalinina has won 25 matches on clay in 2026. She feels really comfortable on this surface and showed why in her first qualifying match. Katie Volynets won her first-round qualifying match in straight sets over Darja Semenistaja. Two players coming off solid matches try to advance to the main draw of Rome in an important contest.

Best Bet to Make

We told you to take Kalinina over Osorio in a match that was priced very close to a toss-up. Kalinina came through, so we’re not going to abandon her now. The fact that Kalinina has already won 25 matches on clay in 2026 shows how much she likes this surface and how much of a rhythm she can develop on it. It’s hard to bet against that, even though Volynets looked good in her first Rome qualifying match.

That being said, betting on Kalinina winning is a value bet for sure.

Value bet/ the best odds: Kalinina winning @1.65 @Betway

Townsend – Jimenez Kasintseva: Time 8:30 EST

H2H: 0-0

Taylor Townsend and Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva are both coming off first-round qualifying wins in Rome. Townsend won her match in three sets, while Jimenez Kasintseva won in straight sets. Townsend is 3-3 in her last six matches, while Jimenez Kasintseva is 1-5. Her win in Rome qualifying snapped a five-match losing streak. Now let’s see if Jimenez Kasintseva can build on that, or if Townsend will prevent her from starting a winning streak.

Best Bet to Make

Both players have been struggling and have not done much on clay this year.
