He has won seven of the nine Masters events at least once, with Madrid and his home tournament in Rome being the only two titles at this level he has yet to claim.

This run has also seen him cross the 14,000 ranking point threshold, becoming the first player apart from the “Big 3” of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic to do so, as well as just the third player to reach five consecutive Masters 1000 finals. With health permitting, 2026 is shaping up to be the best year of Sinner’s career yet, with the Italian having firmly established himself as one of the two dominant forces in men’s tennis since 2025.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="6dfbdbe8ed6ff2eb8f8e8ee3c2cef8f4" image-id="wennXy3TFb53" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 3500px; aspect-ratio: 3500/2332;" ></smartframe-embed>

Workload Concerns

In all of his success over the past two months, much has been made about how many matches the Italian has had to play, having already crossed the 30-match threshold for the year. In light of that, questions remain over whether fatigue could become a factor in the upcoming tournaments, especially with his arch-rival, Carlos Alcaraz, sidelined due to a wrist issue.

While Sinner has not confirmed anything, he did cast some doubt over his participation in Rome later this month because of the heavy workload, with the French Open clearly his primary target.

“Roma will be a different story. I’m trying to recover a lot in terms of sleep at night. I’ve played a lot in the last month and a half, going very far in all the tournaments. It’s clear that’s a great sign, but at the same time, you tend to get a little more tired.”

The Italian, who made the final in Rome last year, will prioritize recovery and rest, even if it means making a difficult decision regarding his home Masters event. Still, it remains unlikely that Sinner will skip Rome, as, despite the heavy schedule, most of his wins have been relatively comfortable, with the Italian having dropped just two sets during his ongoing streak.

Main Photo Credit: Susan Mullane-Imagn Images

The records keep piling up for Jannik Sinner, who reached his fifth consecutive Masters 1000 final after overcoming Arthur Fils in two comprehensive sets in Madrid.
