As it has seemed for the longest time, whenever the world No. 1 player plays, he seems to be doing one of a few things, sometimes all at once: breaking a record, setting a record, extending a record, and/or joining an elite group of players. Such has been his dominance that you might miss it if you blink.

Sinner Sets Another Record

Following his victory over Rafa Jodar, he was again doing the latter of that category as he became only the 6th player to have made at least the semi-finals of all nine Masters events. He joins an illustrious group that includes some of the best players ever to pick up a racquet. That list includes Roger Federer (2007), Rafa Nadal (2009), Novak Djokovic (2013), Andy Murray (2014), and Alexander (2026). By achieving this at 24, he also became the second-youngest player to do so, second only to Nadal, who did so at 23. It is a truly remarkable testament to his level and consistency across all surfaces.

Despite him now finding himself amongst such illustrious company, he’d be looking to put himself in some private categories. With two matches to glory in Madrid, he will be looking to become only the first player ever to win five consecutive Masters 1000 events, dating back to the Paris Masters last year. His performance against the inspired Jodar playing in front of a boisterous Spanish crowd hoping to motivate the young prodigy to glory will dispel any lingering doubts about his chances.

He found himself fighting out of difficult situations throughout the match. Despite the crowd’s best efforts, he remained unfazed in the tough moments, saving 7 break points during the match. Jodar played impressively well, taking the second set to a tiebreaker, having lost the first set 6-2. However, that was when the class of Sinner shone the brightest. He significantly upped the ante, determined not to be taken to a deciding set, reeling off seven unanswered points to take the match as well as hand the teenager a stern lesson about what it’ll take to be at the top of the sport.

Jodar is Here to Stay

The Spaniard should, and rightfully, be proud of his efforts over the past few days, as he’s shown plenty to suggest he’s one to keep an eye on. He also joined an illustrious company of his own, becoming the player with the most wins in his first twenty-five professional matches, winning seventeen. He tops a list that includes Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, and even his victor, Jannik Sinner. The future is certainly bright for the young man from Madrid, Spain.

Victorias en los primeros 25 partidos de sus carreras:

🇪🇸 Rafael Jódar — 17
🇧🇷 Joao Fonseca — 15
🇪🇸 Rafael Nadal — 15
🇪🇸 Carlos Alcaraz — 14
🇮🇹 Jannik Sinner — 12
🇷🇸 Novak Djokovic — 12
🇨🇭 Roger Federer — 11

🤯 LO DE ESTE CHICO ES UNA LOCURA. https://t.co/YwiZ9yu2mu pic.twitter.com/aYU2CiJ9Z1

— Tiempo De Tenis (@Tiempodetenis1) April 26, 2026

For Sinner, attention now turns to Friday’s semi-final, where he could face either Jiri Lehecka or Arthur Fils, for a chance to make even more history, if he can make the final and set himself up for one more match for history.
