ATP Los Cabos Day 2 Predictions Including Nicolas Jarry vs Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez

Nicolas Jarry ahead of ATP Los Cabos

Tennis in the wee hours is what the Mifel Tennis Open in Los Cabos is all about. And we’ve got plenty of matches to brighten our mornings including seven on the slate on day two. One of the favorites for the event Nicolas Jarry will take on home wild card Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez. Who do you think will advance?

ATP Los Cabos Day 2 Predictions

Borna Gojo vs Cristian Garin

Head-to-head: first meeting

A very even match could be on the cards. Borna Gojo was on the cusp of a top 100 breakthrough, but completely lost his way on grass where he failed to scale the qualifying rounds in two of the tournaments and lost a winnable opener at Wimbledon to Maximilian Marterer. Cristian Garin, meanwhile, enjoyed a career revival in 2023, highlighted by his return to the world’s top 100. But he’s fallen out of it in recent weeks. The good thing for Garin is that he doesn’t defend too many points between now and the end of the season. That should be enough motivation to get a much-needed win over the big-serving Croat.

Prediction: Garin in 3

Dominik Koepfer vs Tomas Barrios Vera

Head-to-head: Koepfer 2-1 Barrios Vera

Koepfer and Barrios Vera have previously never played dull affairs. Barrios Vera managed to upset the German lefty at the San Luis Potosi Challenger final in early April, which was his first win in the head-t-head. But the Chilean arrives in Los Cabos without a great deal of hardcourt preparation since the Australian Open qualifying, which must feel like an awfully long time. Koepfer only recently made a quarterfinal on hard courts, beating the likes of John Isner and Dan Evans. He’s got the higher floor, at least on this surface.

Nicolas Jarry vs Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez

Head-to-head: first meeting

Nicolas Jarry has put together the finest season of his career. With two to his name and several wins over the established ATP’s elite, the Chilean will be a perennial danger on the quick courts in Los Cabos. 18-year-old home wild card Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez has previously had an interaction with a former top-30 player and managed just three games against Australia’s Alex de Minaur in Acapulco. This will be his third ATP main draw, and his second appearance in Los Cabos. His first was rather uneventful and forgettable as he was forced to retire down 3-6 0-4 to Rinky Hijikata last year. But this will be another tall order for the unheralded youngster.

Prediction: Jarry in 2
