WTA Lausanne Quarterfinal Predictions Including Alize Cornet vs Diane Parry

Alize Cornet ahead of WTA Lausanne

After the second round which saw the 16-year-old rising star Mirra Andreeva crash out, the final eight is set in Lausanne. As always, we here at LWOT will preview and predict every match. Who do you think will win?

WTA Lausanne Quarterfinal Predictions

Elina Avanesyan vs Elisabetta Cocciaretto

Head-to-head: Cocciaretto 1-0 Avanesyan

Avanesyan had a breakout run at the French Open, reaching the fourth round as lucky loser. The Russian grabbed a couple of decent wins in Berlin and has now made back-to-back quarterfinals after Budapest last week. Cocciaretto took a set off Sara Sorribes Tormo last week in Palermo and came close to losing to Celine Naef in her opener here, winning 3-6 7-6 6-2. Avanesyan is in better form at the moment.

Anna Bondar vs Tamara Zidansek

Head-to-head: Bondar 1-0 Zidansek

After making the third round of Rome out of qualifying, Bondar has struggled, going 1-5 since coming into Lausanne. The Hungarian had a strong 6-1 6-3 win over Aliona Bolsova in the first round before taking out Mirra Andreeva. 2021 champion Zidansek has also looked good, beating Lucia Bronzetti and Sara Sorribes Tormo in straight sets. The Slovene is a slight favorite for me here.

Ana Bogdan vs Clara Burel

Head-to-head: Bogdan 1-1 Burel

The third meeting between the two in 2023 already with Burel winning their first on indoor hard in Lyon before Bogdan returned the favour in Dubai qualifying two weeks later. The Romanian is the highest-ranked player left in the draw, winning a W100 in Iasi last week. Though her performances have been a bit more of a struggle this week, going three sets with Simona Waltert and Dalila Jakupovic, Bogdan is on a seven-win streak right now. Burel, a finalist in Lausanne two years ago, has looked good this week, beating Olga Danilovic and Emma Navarro in straight sets. The 22-year-old should be a step above Bogdan’s first two opponents and with the fatigue potentially setting in for the Romanian, Burel should pounce and take advantage.

Prediction: Burel in 2

Alize Cornet vs Diane Parry

Head-to-head: first meeting

Cornet has had a tough season, just the third quarterfinal she has reached this year. The 2019 Lausanne finalist has had to fight hard, beating Viktorija Golubic and Jil Teichmann in three sets. Parry avenged her loss to Fiona Ferro from two weeks ago in the opener before beating Danka Kovinic. This match could truly go either way but I will lean toward the veteran here.

Prediction: Cornet in 3
